I've had an Apple Watch since they came out and am replacing my Series 3 this Christmas with the Series 7. I've never had cellular before but I'm getting it this time. For one thing, the difference in price is only $100 and T-Mobile is offering a $100 rebate after activating service so I'm really only committing to maybe $20 or $30 total in extra monthly charges before I get the rebate and can cancel service if I want. I figure I might as well try it. I like to go running and while I usually run with my wife, sometimes I run by myself, or sometimes on a longer run we get separated for a while. I generally don't carry my phone when I run so it will be nice to still be able to get in contact if needed. Also, if I'm paying extra money for a service whose only value to me is for when running, I'm hoping that will provide extra motivation to run when I'm feeling lazy. Would I be better off getting the 6 or SE? The difference in cost isn't really that big so I say go for the 7 and future-proof yourself. More on reddit.com

You don’t have to do anything about it, trust me, have been testing cellular watches for years at my workplace. Yes, the cellular antenna in your watch will still browse around a few times a day for cell stations, that’s because it still has to be ready to call emergency services if no other form of connection is available at the moment, and this browsing will still happen without activating an esim in the watch in most countries. This process is undetectable, and will have about 0.5-1% effect on battery drain at most, so my advice would be: don’t bother with airplane mode, just enjoy your watch as is! More on reddit.com

The series 7, just like the previous models, will have an option for GPS only or Cellular connectivity. The gps only model will still track your location as you run and if you preload music you can listen to it, but you will not be able to get texts or phone calls unless you are connected to Wi-Fi (or in range of your phone) If you get the cellular model you can track your run and get map data, stream music, make/receive calls and texts and even use some standalone apps that require connectivity. Keep in mind, many carriers will charge you a monthly fee of 5-10 bucks for adding your cellular Watch to your plan if you go that route. FWIW, i think having cellular on the watch is awesome. I love going for a run with nothing but my watch and AirPods… when I get home I can buzz myself in my gate and even unlock the front door. No keys or phone - it’s awesome! More on reddit.com

100 percent. I’m on my phone now. Mornings and nights usually…. BUT when day time hits I just leave my phone. You can call, text, check emails… everything you need to do…. I even listen to music from my watch on YouTube while I’m out. I think wearables are the future. I don’t want to be another phone zombie. The Apple Watch is amazing with cellular. More on reddit.com
