When my computer is POSTing, it beeps five times and does not boot. Iโve read that this could be because the computer is not detecting a GPU, but the GPU fan is running when I turn the computer on, so itโs not dead. Nevertheless, I have removed the GPU a couple times and seated it back in the PCIe slot. I would try to put in the other PCIe slot, but it will not physically within the case (the bottom of the case comes to close to the bottom of the motherboard for the contacts to even line up with PCIe slot 3).
Iโve also tried reseating the RAM, taking one out and booting with just the other, as well unplugging and plugging back in both the power connector to the motherboard and the CPU power connector, taking out the CMOS battery. None of these have worked.
At this point, the only thing I havenโt done is take off the CPU fan and heat sink and check the CPU.
I guess I should also note that the computer was working fine until I took it apart to put it in a new case.
Any ideas or troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated.
So it happened randomly could be 2 to 4 times in a week. But it will straight boot to windows afterwards. The first time i bought this PC, the bios is at 1.09 but these beeps still happened after i updated it to 1.11 (current installed). I am using 7600x right now. I have brought and report this to the store where i bought this pc. The weird thing is it doesnt happen on them. Any idea what might cause this issue?
Iโve tried two psus, 3 Gpus (only one worked and it was very old) 2cpus and am stumped ๐
Hi, recently I found an old Asrock B75 Pro3 motherboard and decided to clean it good and test it but I keep getting 5 beeps at startup that should indicate a cpu error. That's strange because I'm sure cpu, ram and psu are ok (already tested on another platform). Things I' ve already tried:
- Checked all cables connectors, using VGA video output with integrated gpu
- Boot without ram gives 3 long beeps (should be correct)
- Used only 1 stick of ram and checked every slot
- Removed cpu and checked for bent pins but everything is fine
- Reset CMOS using jumper procedure and removed battery
Cpu fan spins but i keep getting 5 beeps. Is there something else I can try before throwing it away ? Maybe replace the bios chip in case it is corrupted/damaged, but honestly that's the last resort and it's not a guaranteed fix.
[Edit] Solved: Apparently it was a corrupted bios issue. I bought a CH341a usb bios flasher and flashed the bios chip with the latest version and that fixed the problem.
Hi folks! I'm in the process of building a new PC, and I set up my core components outside my case for the first time to see whether it POSTs. Lo and behold, it won't. Since there's no error code screen on the mobo, I also installed a chassis speaker, and it's giving me 5 beeps after startup. I get the same beeps whether my GPU is installed or not, and there's no video output through the HDMI on the board nor through that on the GPU. My mobo is running bios it was shipped with, which the sticker indicates is 1.07.
My components are:
ASRock B650E PG-ITX
Ryzen 9 7900
Corsair CMT32GX5M2D6000Z36 RAM
WB Black SN850X
Corsair SF750 PSU
Asus RTX 4070 Dual
I've tried clearing the CMOS (using a screwdriver to short the pins), reseating all power cables and checking that they're in their correct slots, booting with and without the GPU, and booting with a single stick of RAM in different slots.
Strictly speaking, my RAM is not on the QVL list, but as there are no Corsair sticks certified for EXPO on that list, I checked with ASRock support whether I should get the XMP sticks that are in fact listed or their exact EXPO equivalent. Support told me to get the EXPO sticks and sent me a link on Amazon, so I went ahead and got that, which is what this is.
Unfortunately, I don't have a bunch of other CPUs or other components laying around to experiment with. What are my next steps here? Would much appreciate any advice!
