Hello everyone,
last month I build my first PC and started with 32 GB of Trident Z Neo 3600 CL16-16-16-36 memory (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839473/F4-3600C16D-32GTZN-Overview). Last week I got myself a second kit, but couldn’t get it running at 3600 MT/s).
Now I am looking into buying a complete 64 GB Kit and for my mainboard. ASUS does list compatibility for a few Trident Z Neo 4*16 GB kits (https://rog.asus.com/de/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x570-e-gaming-wifi-ii-model/helpdesk_qvl_memory) with the fastest one being this:
https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562840280/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZNCTrident-Z-NeoDDR4-3600MHz-CL16-19-19-39-1.35V64GB-(4x16GB)
This kit does have 16-19-19-39 timings. But G.Skill does have a 4*16 GB CL16-16-16-36 kit (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839857/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN) that they claim works with the Strix X570-E Gaming.
Does anyone on you use this particular 64GB CL16-16-16-36 kit successfully with an ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II?
Tl;dr: ASUS says a 64 GB G.Skill 64 GB. CL16-16-16-36 kit (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/326/1562839857/F4-3600C16Q-64GTZN) is not compatible with the ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi II. But G.Skill says it works with the Strix X570-E Gaming. Can you say if it will work or are you even using this kit successfully?
Thanks a lot to everyone for your help!
Just ordered a Rog strix x570-e gaming to pair with my 5900x (both purchased at MSRP). My question is, with my current RAM, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) 4x8GB, will I run into boot issues? I noticed 4x8GB isn't supported for this RAM on the QVL, however, my current build, an 1800x paired with a Crosshair Hero VI, has no issues running in this configuration, although I did have to slightly overclock the RAM
I guess, more or less my question is, is anyone else running with this board, cpu, and 4x8 RAM that isn't supported according to the QVL?

Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.
Whenever I install a memory module in slots 3 or 4, the PC does not boot. Only slots 1 and 2 work on the motherboard where I can actually boot to Windows 10. The PC detects both RAM modules (both in BIOS and windows 10 when is slots 1 & 2)
List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.
Initially, I had this issue at the beginning of the build to which I loosened up the CPU cooler which seemed to have done the trick but it has now reverted to not working again.
I have checked the following;
-
Reseated the memory.
-
Put the memory modules in the working slots and ran Windows Memory Diagnostics - no reported issues on either stick.
-
Updated BIOS to the latest version.
-
Took off the CPU Cooler and checked the CPU, no bent pins on the CPU nor any visible issues with the socket.
-
Reseated the CPU (after inspection above).
-
Removed the CMOS battery.
-
Inspected the RAM slots (although I am not sure what to be looking out for here -visually, it looks ok)
Post relevant photos of build/parts here.
N/A for the time being.
Provide any additional details you wish below.
I am having a hard time trying to narrow down where the issue is, it could be three of the following;
1) Bad motherboard. 2) Bad memory controller on the CPU. 3) Bad RAM.
I have tested each RAM module and no errors were reported so that can't be ruled out? I don't know how I can test the first two theories. I do not have extra parts around to troubleshooting further. I have noticed that the Windows memory Diagnostic tool does not complete when slots 1 and 2 is populated, however it does when there is only one module.
I am hoping by posting here to get some new information and new set of eyes to investigate this further. I have run out of ideas to try.
Appreicate the help.
