How to Calculate the Return on Investment (ROI) of a Marketing Campaign
June 20, 2025 - So even though sales dropped, your campaign has an ROI of 60% calculated from ($800 - $500) / $500 x 100, That's a great return in the first month of a campaign. It shows that the campaign reduced the average amount of lost sales. That's a move toward profitability. Once you have a fairly accurate calculation, the remaining challenge is the time period. Marketing is a long-term, multiple-touch process that leads to sales growth over time.

What is the average ROI when working with a high-end reputable AdWords agency?
After managing accounts for 8+ years I can tell you there is no such thing as "average ROI." The ROI will vary for each client based on their marketing strategy, conversion rates, margins, etc. I have a client where we average 300-400% ROAS each month and they are very happy and another client that expects 900%+/mo or I'm doing a bad job. You'll need to know your own business metrics to determine what a realistic ROI is for you and what your ROI goals are for growth. Usually, hiring a larger agency comes with a steeper monthly fee, but also a certain level of service including multi-channel management, asset and landing page development, and dedicated reps. If those aren't things you need, there are some really great freelancers or smaller boutique agencies that probably will cost half the price each month and from my experience, do a better job when it comes to the actual execution and management of the PPC accounts. What ROI do you get on your marketing spend ?
Very interested in the responses in this post as I am curious about the trial and errors of other agents. I have ran Facebook, Instagram, and adwerx ads for the last 3 months. Every ‘lead’ I’ve gotten on facebook through the ad is either a friend or friend of a friend who saw my ad and recognized me. Of those 4 in total which have all been rentals but they covered the cost. My total spend has been $40 a week or $480 in total. End result was just above a 500% profit which is great but at 3 months it is hard to tell if that is sustainable. The least return I have gotten is adwerx which I’ve invested a bit less than Facebook but my ads are in a prime area in downtown Chicago. As I mentioned the sample size is too small to judge but I am questioning my need to re up on the ad subscription. 0% return as of now. Lastly, instagram. This has been my best tool. Whether it be a sponsored post or a story I get the most feedback from Instagram. As you know the best way to maintain clients is consistent contact which Instagram provides. Similar to Facebook I have invest $50 a week in ads and it has turned into 2 buy clients. Neither have bought yet but I am confident they will result in sale. A total of $600 over 3 months in ad space has resulted in 2 potential buyers is worth it to me at this point. If I was to say what my expected ROI would be down the road I’d say I would be happy with making $3 for every $1 I spend. At the moment the 1300 or so invested with the 2880+ return sits well with me. More on reddit.com
