A sharp increase in the spot cost across multiple regions
Better than it was years ago when people put in 1 for spot bids and spot instances cost MORE than on-demand (t2.large costing $1/hr, lol!) Also, this was asked earlier in the week and it was us-east-1 as well. Maybe stop using us-east-1. AWS is obviously slowing down their overprovisioning / hardware purchases so SPOT availability goes down (and price goes up). More on reddit.com

They are all made available through the dynamic pricing model, which enables the price to change based on demand and availability. This implies that the cost will depend on the location of the instance, its type, and the time of day. Whenever you want to work with Spot Instances, you will have to make a Spot request, indicating how much you are willing to pay and what type of instance you would prefer. AWS will only start your instance when it is equal to or less than the current bid.
