Bench grinder stands ideas/experiences | Canadian Hobby Metal Workers & Machinists
January 20, 2023 - One idea I've never "fleshed" out completely is having the grinder rotate vertically so one drops down out of the way when the other swings up. I have one mounted to a bench and one mounted to a pipe stand with a cement filled tire rim for the base.

December 8, 2017 - To help keep the grinder from shifting, I drove small screws around the base: The bottom of the stand has four pull out bins for storage, and I made this from 1/2″; spruce plywood.

Making a bench grinder stand | The Woodwork Geek
February 12, 2013 - I’m in the middle of building my own wooden stand for my two grinders. I like your foot pad better than my idea (a thick sheet of plywood that would have rocked). However, I was uncertain of the final height I would want so I have my 4X4 main post (attached to the platform) sandwiched between two 2X4 (attached to the base). I can slide it up and down and insert the shear bolts to fix it at whatever height I drill holes for. Mark Bauer Colleyville, TX ... Photo here of my bench grinder stand with the adjustable 4X4 post sandwiched between two 2X4’s.

r/turning on Reddit: Bench Grinder stand?
November 28, 2021 -

Got a bunch of gifts for thanksgiving including a rikon bench grinder, a wolverine system with vary grind jig and some gouges. I am thinking of getting a bench grinder stand for my small shop. Will I be able to install and setup the wolverine system on a stand? Should I get the rikon stand or is there any other recommended stand?

Bench Grinder Stand : 5 Steps (with Pictures) - Instructables
October 5, 2017 - My bench grinder was an old beast from my grandfathers work shop (they don't make em like that any more), and when he gave it to me it came complete with rubber washers and lag bolts to secure it to a bench and minimize vibration. I just placed the grinder, marked the holes in the base, then drilled some pilot holes to accommodate the lag bolts. In the side views you can see that I have also added some trapezoid shaped 2x6's that are screwed on to shore up the connection between the legs and the top of the stand.

Stand for Bench Grinder | The Hobby-Machinist
October 30, 2020 - I have mine secured on a 4 wheel bench, sorta similar to the left side image. This way I can roll it outside if the weather is decent so I don't have all the grinding dust in the shop. I like the truck wheel idea as well. But since you're putting it in the basement, the corner shelf is probably what I would do.

Bench Grinder Stand | Kilted Craft Works
March 15, 2019 - My ability isn’t great, but practice makes perfect and the process highlighted some minor issues with my original idea. I picked up an 8 foot 2×8 and started cutting out a basic stand. The very bottom is a 2×12 bit of scrap I had that was about the right size. I screwed it all together and placed a long section of 2×8 on top to hold the grinder and an adjustable tool rest.

I have a grinder that I've been needing to mount. The Tube with the lock nuts/bolts is 2.5 " and the "arm" is 2" tube? any tendency to wobble or does tightening down on the bolts take care of that?:drinkup: ... Very nice design--- I like the receiver head on it. It gave me an idea looking at the extended arm---I've got a standard dual wheel grinder like that and a single wheel buffer/wire brush motor that I use to clean bolts/parts with.

March 25, 2007 - Grinder Stand I started with a metal stand from a hardware store. I found that too low. Finally I found an old piece of cabinet, 1940s style stereo I think. The grinder is at a good height for me. Mounted my bench top drill press on the metal stand. I mounted my grinder on a piece of kitchen cabinet formica that was a sink cut out.

I seen this at harbor freight today thought it would make a perfect stand for their shrinker/ stretcher. Next plan is to figure out how to mount foot pedals to operate the shrinker/stretcher
