I bought one of those epson tank printers, no cartridges to buy. Ink refills are $40, and with every day use from 2-3 people I haven’t replaced it in 6 months. It’s slower than the HP lazerjets, but the savings in cartridges seems worth it. More on reddit.com

Manufacturers pay for planogram space. And corporate planners will always put higher margin/subsidized by manufacturer items on display over other items that aren't. Plus, any item displayed from inventory (license plated) is usually sent back to the PRC (product reclamation center) or recycled. Manufacturers will sometimes offer to send special units just for display/compensate for these display units pulled from inventory to get their stuff displayed. Brother doesn't spend the cash other printer makers do on in-store marketing like that. More on reddit.com

I understand the business model these companies are working on and that printers generally are hot garbage... but how much do I have to pay to have a printer that actually works? HP Smart Tank 6001 is constantly letting me down and other HP products have had the same fate.
Edit:: It's been nearly an hour now trying to get this printer to work. A printer that was working just fine a few weeks ago with no issues at all.

Brother color laser printer. Wife uses it for work printouts and it's been plug and play for two years running. We are still on the starter cartridges since she only prints about 50 pages a month. No HP inkjet would hold up without needing ink monthly.

Looking specifically for personal MFC Color Laserjets.. I dont want to pay $800 or more or want refurbs. Add $400 for toner.. this is for one person remote offices unfortunately so leasing is not an option.

If you don't need all the 'business stuff' I bought a Cannon MFC color laser printer from Office Depot a couple of years ago when my daughter was in college printing a ton of stuff. It worked great. Now it sits on the shelf for me to get out a couple of times a year to print and never had an issue with the toner crapping out. It has wifi, color toner, duplexing, print from google/apple, ink saver all for around $400 bucks. Toner is slightly more than other brands but still far cheaper than inkjet cartridges. Plus I can find cheapos on Amazon.

I went to Best Buy looking for a MFCL3720CDW, but there was only one Brother printer in the store and it was in the box under some HP boxes. The rep I talked to said they better ever have them on the floor. Does anyone know why?
I've done a bit of research and for my small home business I think a Brother multifunction laser is the right pick, but my wife is nervous that Best Buy might be pulling them because of a quality issue.
