I think that’s actually way too much. Reason being, wholesale allows you to succeed, or fail, on a much larger scale than traditional arbitrage models. Take $500 (or less, I know 6 figure per year sellers that started with no money and just scanned stuff in their house) and buy books, drug store items, just about anything that you can at least break even on. Spend that time and money learning how to identify profitable items, pack, ship, and provide customer service for your sales. Take that time to perfect your operations while you can still fail small. Work out your workflow, document procedures, master your repricing strategies and rules, get your bookkeeping in order, sales tax, etc. All of those details will be annoying at the $500 dollar level, they can be catastrophic at the $7k level. Once you have successfully been able to spend $500 and get at least $500 out of the other side via disbursement, then take the plunge with a bigger investment.
