I just bought a 400 thread count, single ply, 100% Egyptian cotton duvet cover for about £30. Bang for buck that seems like the best I could find. After some research, that's what I concluded to be the best but I've found people on this sub to be more knowledgeable than me on the subject. Did I make a good buy? How much better can it get than that?
I am in the process of changing my bedding, and upgrading from a Queen to King. I went down the rabbit hole and got some sheet, mattress, pillow etc. Gosh, it was a very fun
Now I am trying to find a good duvet cover, do you all have recommendations? Budget is around 200-250, willing to spend a little more if the product is really great.

Hi!
I am looking for the best, cooling, light and crisp duvet cover and something that feels just cozy at the same time… any recommendations???
I often wake up covered in sweating, despite sleeping with the window open.
With Spring/Summer around the corner, I want some new sheets that will help with breathability.
I have a nice down comforter that I would like to get a cover for to help keep it clean. I’m looking for something that doesn’t add a lot of warmth. Will any duvet cover do? What do people recommended
I know this has been asked many times before but frankly every time I think I’ve found a good option, I see tons of negative reviews. My budget is under $200 and I prefer linen or percale, more breathable but soft fabrics.
I think I will stay away from Brooklinen and Quince given all the quality issues I’ve seen.
I use a LL Bean percale duvet cover over a Feathered Friends down comfort, and it is LOUD! I sleep hot and roll/move around a lot. Does anyone have suggestions for a quieter and cooler material that is not plastic or synthetic?
Research so far suggests sateen, silk, and bamboo (but I've read bamboo is mostly plastic).
Thank you!
Hello,
I don’t know much about bedding materials.
Can anyone make a review of the best bedding materials?
For sheets, duvets, mattress covers?
I am going to be upgrading my comforter to another comforter or duvet.
Was thinking it may be worth it to splurge on a nice percale duvet cover and just buying an averaged priced duvet/comforter.
Curious to hear what others think about spending more on the cover rather than the actual duvet/comforter itself...
Okay sorry for the long post, but I’ve been trying to find a new comforter or duvet/duvet cover but it’s overwhelming. I’ve read countless Reddit threads. For backstory:
I run veryyyy hot at night due to chronic illness, and sleep much better when I’m cooler. The Midwest summer months are awful for me. However, I love the feel of a big fluffy comforter (as does my partner).
I’ve heard so many different testimonies as to which type of material is the most breathable (linen/cotton/bamboo), and I’m also confused as to if it’d be better to get a comforter, or a duvet and a duvet cover?
I’m leaning towards duvets, as I’ve heard they’re easier to clean (or rather the covers are easier to clean) but don’t know much about the filling materials and what not.
So I guess I’m curious, what would y’all recommend/what have you had good luck with in terms of an outer layer setup/brands you recommend/materials, etc for staying super cool and breezy. I hope this makes sense! TYIA!!
I purchased a "bedsure" duvet cover, oversized king 120x98, on Amazon (yeah I know). It was delivered January 27th. It already has a tear in it. This thing is paper thin. The reviews were good and the review checker in Firefox gave it an A for reliable reviews.
Where's a good place to get quality duvet covers?
EDIT: I'm looking for near buy-it-for-life. I don't mind paying for it, I just need something durable in an oversized king.
Looking to upgrade our bedding. We always buy some pretty cheap comforters or duvets and duvet covers and they always seem to get worn out so quickly and become less comfortable.
Looking for the best sheets, best comforter OR duvet + duvet cover.. even pillows thrown in there if someone knows of some really great ones. I get that this kinda stuff can’t really be BIFL and do need to be replaced eventually but I’m looking for something that will last! I’m in Canada by the way so looking for stuff that I can find here or ships here.
Thanks in advance!
Buy linen, it's the closest to BIFL bed sheets and duvet covers get. They can be pricey but linen lasts for a long time and gets nicer each and every wash.
Linoto is a great brand made in upstate NY (though their customer service has been hard to get in touch with), my linoto sheets are holding up really well. Magic linen is another awesome brand made in Eastern Europe.
As for a duvet insert, I have a wool comforter I love, but haven't had it long enough to say it's BIFL or not
I got a duvet and cover from ikea at least 10 years ago and both are still going strong. The cover even has that feeling the old sheets we had in the house felt like. Not thinned out or anything, but a weird nice "broken in" kind of thing I guess.
Hi there,
I've been poking around looking for some good, long lasting & comfortable bedding essentially. this thread helped a little but seeing as its primarily US-based products, its a little difficult to take recommendations from, given that i'm from the UK.
So far, it seems the best material for sheets would be bamboo or Egyptian cotton? I'm leaning towards the bamboo side of things given that it apparently has better wicking properties and what not.
Also, a duvet cover of an equally good, durable material would of course go well. I'm not entirely sure about this one as my research comes up empty mostly, what material would you recommend?
Any particular stores to check out for these things? I don't really trust many of the amazon sellers given their lack of reviews and what not.
I've noticed white really doesn't end well either, something with a bit of colour would be nice. Maybe even a dark colour, although possibly not black?
I suppose the best solution here is a nice set: pillow cases, duvet cover, sheets and maybe even a duvet its self.
Thanks!

To remain transparent here, I work at a bedding company. Here are my suggestions...
I have both bamboo and Egyptian cotton sheets/duvets. Bamboo is definitely great and it has a very similar feeling to silk. Egyptian cotton is definitely more of your standard sheet. It's more durable and longer lasting too. Here are some options at our website if you want to check them out.

Hi all!
I’m going deep down the rabbit hole of upping my bedding game. I’m just now looking for a duvet cover. After researching between Linen vs Cotton, I think I’m siding with linen, but having troubles with a quality brand. Brands I see highly recommended then start deep diving into unravel bad reviews and stories. I’d say I’m looking for a quality cover with around a $300 budget but definitely flexible.
Brands I’ve looked into:
The Company Store: heard quality may be worse since accquisition
Quince: Heard some of the sheets have had issues with holes early on, but I’m looking for a cover so maybe less of a worry. Also heard about a lot of early shedding
Magic Linen: Seemingly good so far but heard they don’t get as soft after washing?
Bosker: Not a ton of info I’ve found here
If anyone has tested any of these brands or compared them I’m all ears! Also open to any other brands I haven’t looked into yet, thank you!
I am going to be getting a wool insert and looking for a quality duvet cover... was wondering what is your guys go to? I was looking at the boll and branch but they are pricey. I'd like to be able to afford to get a few so I have some for switching out when doing laundry. With having a service dog that sleeps with me they are needed.
A few years back, I fell for Brooklinen’s advertisements and bought some sheets and a duvet cover. I have liked how well the duvet cleans up in the wash and it’s overall feel but the quality is definitely not there (rips in the fabric and tears in the button holes 6 months after buying).
Does anyone have BIFL recommendations for duvet covers that hold up to weekly washes and are made of a cool/cotton material?
I’ve had really good luck with the Company Store’s cotton percale duvet covers. My currently one is just under 5 years old with minimal wear and tear with weekly washing. I’ve had to patch one hole and that’s it.
Gee, i have an IKEA one that is 12 years old and is as bright and vivid as the day I bought it. It has no tears or wear from use, either. YMMV, of course, but for the money, I bought another at IKEA in October.
I’m in the market for a new duvet cover and possibly new comforter. I prefer hypoallergenic/non-down in a comforter. In a duvet cover I’m just looking for a natural, non-synthetic soft material. I love flax linen sheets and pillowcases so I’m leaning toward the same for a duvet cover. Also prefer machine-washable preferably for both but definitely for the cover. Any recommendations?
Also, does anyone else think it’s weird that we don’t call duvet covers comforter covers and don’t call comforters duvets?
Red Land Cotton- my mom got us one of their covers for a wedding gift, absolutely amazing and their sheets are the bomb and feel super cozy. They have a lifetime warranty.
Frankenmuth Woolen Mill- best comforters ever, my wife hates sleeping with anything else. Keeps us the perfect temperature and they last for decades. They have been making them in the same factory for 125+ years. We love their pillows too.
IKEA has great deals and lots of choices
I have a nice down duvet and need a new cover for it. I am having trouble finding one that I like. The furniture in the bedroom is grey, and I usually like a pretty simple style but I am open to anything.
Thanks!
Ooh, I know an amazing place to get duvet covers that I happened to stumble on when I was looking for one myself. Deny Designs has thousands of different prints from hundreds of artists, all of the more graphic and artistic variety, rather than just plain colors. The covers themselves are an exclusive microfiber, and very soft, possibly not the most high-end material, although that doesn't matter to me. I've had mine for two years and I still love it.
Edit: i found the one I have specifically. It looks exactly like this, high resolution and all: http://www.denydesigns.com/products/lisa-argyropoulos-within-the-eye-duvet-cover
You might have better luck in r/DesignMyRoom. It's always helpful if you post a photo of your room if you're looking for something to go with your existing decor.
