What's the best free video editing software for beginners? I want to start making videos, preferably something that's also good for longer videos, around 10 minutes
I'm not a proffessional video editor, I am not trying to do any complicatd edits. All I am trying to do is cut videos.
I was doing that with capcut, but then they started watermarking anything I clipped so I had to quit on that.
All I need is a bare bones timeline tool that lets me see what I'm clipping, and gives me the clip without putting a watermark on it.
People recommend Da Vinci but that seems like overkill for what I am trying to do.

I NEED a editing software thats not premium to do anything, (dont say resolve)
i’ve already got iMovie ver 9.0.0 but that’s really only good for my analog cameras. I’m talking abt software for my canon digital camera. The thing with my mac is i cant download the latest version of imovie and Filmora uses watermarks so i’m looking for a better alternative
Im look for a completely free video editor. DoEs anyone know of any programs? im just doing basic video editing that's why i dont need something with a paid version. I would also perfer if it doesn't leave a watermark..
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for the best free video editor app — something that’s easy to use but still gives good control over transitions, text, and effects.
I usually edit short-form videos (reels, YouTube Shorts, and gaming clips) on my phone, but I don’t mind using a desktop version if it’s worth it
What is the best video editing software that is free or open sourced? I was wondering if there was something comparable to OBS for recording/streaming. Preferably one that is fairly easy for beginners but has the option for more complex features.
Anything match that description. I use CapCut currently but would love to find something that is comparable ish but free.
Edit: thank you for the responses. I think I will download DaVinci resolve and shortcut. Play around with both and see which fit my needs the best.
I currently use cap-cut but I wanna switch to something else. any suggestions?
Hello everyone, I mostly do some videos as a hobby and I've started three or four months ago. I ended making a review channel for topics I enjoy, but this isn't about it.
Mostly, I've been using Davinci Resolve, at first it fit perfectly what I wanted and I had little troubles with it. But after some updates, the software ended downright terrible, slow, buggy, keeps freezing and crashing all the time. So are there any suggestions for alternate softwares?
EDIT: Ok, just to be clear. I've been using Davinci for two whole months, when it switched to its newest 20. version, suddenly, and I mean SUDDENLY it started acting terrible. I could make multi-layered videos just fine, without any problems, and now its a headache to just switch timelines.
Just as an update. I backtracked Davinci up to 18.5, and so far its faring much better. After I finish this current project, I will try the other suggested programs.
I'm familiar with OpenShot and ShotCut. Do you know any others?
P.S.: I recently started video editing. I chose Capcut, which was free but has now become a paid option.
Just starting out, have no experience with video editing. The videos will mostly be still images, both photos and computer images, and I'd like to include some video clips also, and also a voice over
What's something easy to get to grips with, and free?
EDIT - Cheers for the replies guys. This is by far the most responsive sub I've ever posted in, never had so many answers.
Hi!
I want to start doing content creation and want to make long-form type video essays. I’m remiss on what software to use for that other than Adobe (which is too expensive for me to afford) and CapCut (which I feel is really juvenile and you have to subscribe to access their video editor anyway).
I wanted to ask google but I don’t wanna be swayed by possibly sponsored articles.
What are some good editing softwares that aren’t too expensive or free. If it helps I’m also a soon to be college student, I know some softwares give discounts.
Thank you in advance!! :D
Been using capcut app on my phone and it is actually pretty great. But it gets annoying trying to do everything on the phone only. What do you use to edit your videos?
I'm looking for a video editing app that doesn't add a watermark (or if it does, that it's at the end so I can just cut it out).
What do I need? I'd like to be able to trim a couple of videos and stick them together. It would be nice to be able to add a sticker (or a photo, either works), but that's not essential.
Any recommendations?
I used to edit with kinemaster in mobile. Then used capcut (initially at mobile), but as i am shifted to pc, i realized there is no pc version of kinemaster, and capcut needs pro version for most of the effects. I tried vsdc for around 15 days, but it requires us to do work from root. It's also good, but in this time where we can use effects easily, i found it harder with vsdc as it requires more professionals to use it.
I've been unemployed for a year now, so I have no budget at the moment. I used to use capcut as my editing tool for my instagram reels, but given the circumstances that's no longer possible. I was wondering if there's any free app where I can create auto captions, edit and set a pretty title to it as seamlessly as it can be. Right now I've been using Edits from Instagram to caption and edit, and Mojo to create titles. I wanted to find something else, because alternating between tools cause me to basically create the same file twice in their apps, so my storage is mostly full. I have to manually delete each project from each app, and since I post every single day, it takes a toll on my workflow. Also, I'm quite unhappy with Edits, the lags are frequent and it's not getting any better.
