I have a Godmorgen vanity in dark brown that was installed in like, 2014? Ikea sinktop as well. It’s held up great. It’s not wood, I don’t think! I initially bought the legs, but changed my mind and its floating. We installed it by putting additional wood board on top of the drywall so we could get support from studs. More on reddit.com

I think of fixtures as the stuff ... faucet, sink faucet, vanity, medicine cabinet, towel bar, toilet paper holder, lighting fixtures, etc. I don't think Ikea sells toilets/bathtubs/tile. But it looks like you could get everything else for a bathroom there.... More on bogleheads.org

I think I may have to leave this sub...some of the answer are just ridiculous! Move the plumbing! Even if you did how would you them hook up the sink? That plumbing has to get inside that cabinet somehow! If you're not handy find someone who is and remove all the plumbing until you have three things coming out of the wall. Two water supplies (hot and cold) with the valves only. Remove the supply lines from the valves. Hopefully the drain line is plastic (black abs or white pvc) so you can remove the trap entirely. You may have to cut it off and reinstall a new trap. What you'll then have is three pipes (1 large drain and two water supply pipes) that must go through the back of the cabinet. A hole saw will be needed or a jigsaw. Measure carefully twice! Mark the wall where the cabinet will sit and measure from that to determine the holes. Depending on how thick the back panel is (ikea likely very thin) you may be able to cut the needed holes with an utility knife. If you need to cut the drain to remove the trap do not cut it tight to the wall. Leave as much sticking out as possible so you can reattach the trap. Good luck! More on reddit.com
Are IKEA bathroom cabinets and hardware any good?
I installed Godmorgon in one bathroom and now working on the second one. In my opinion, you need to pay at least triple to get similar quality from someone else. The cabinets have 2 or 4 (depending on the size) fully working deep drawers. But here it gets complicated. The cabinets rely on the cool low profile drain system, that is bundled with the countertop. If you want a different top, you will have to buy the regular drain components, and they will interfere with the drawers. It is possible to modify the drawers, but you will lose storage capacity and it may not look good. As for the countertops themselves, I don't really care for both acrylic and porcelain options. I installed the acrylic, and I can live with it, but the sink is very shallow and it seems like it is getting harder to clean around the faucet. Despite the shortcomings, I would still use IKEA top for compatibility with the vanity. Single hole faucets are plentiful and inexpensive. More on reddit.com

i'm trying to replace an existing bathroom vanity with a new one. For anyone whose purchased vanities from IKEA before, how has yours held up & how are the ones at IKEA compared to the ones they sell at Home Depot and Lowes? Also:
i was at IKEA the other day and noticed that their sinks have only one pre-drilled hole for the faucet. Is it possible to drill additional holes and install a wide spread or 4" faucet?
does this vanity comes with a toe kit/space at the bottom?

I did not see anything on the website.

We purchased this vanity about 6 months ago. I love it. It was the only option we could find for our space and budget. I am thrilled to have a solid wood vanity that will last a long time. I love the Odensvik sink we put on the top. Having the open space under the vanity seemed a bit odd at first, but I like it. If we were to have a broken pipe or water overflow from the tub or toilet, it won't damage the base of the vanity. We had a vanity in a laundry room that was ruined when the washer overflowed. Water ran under the vanity, was soaked up by the particle board base, and it went moldy. I've lived in over 20 houses and seen more than my fair share of water damaged bathroom vanities. Most vanities that you will find at big box stores are made with particle board and MDF. Neither do well with water. After gutting half of our bathroom because of water damage, I was not keen on putting in something that would not last. I can't speak with any authority on drilling holes in ceramic, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work. I didn't really care for the faucet choices at IKEA, but decided I didn't want to try to make something else work. We have the Dalskar, and it works well, plus it's easy to clean.
