Movies should be post 1995 and should be like viewer didn't expect or peidict that what will happen next. Or any TV series recommendations will also be appreciated
It could really be any genre as long as mystery and thriller is involved. Id also like to say my favorite settings when it comes to these stories are somewhere in space, in a military setting or underwater (I’ve never been huge on the idea of normal underwater shark types of stuff, if possible I’d like some sort of Atlantis type thing or where they explore a structure or a ship underwater) could be horror or not it doesn’t matter as long as it’s thrilling. I’ve never been a big movie guy so the only mystery thriller movies ive watched that I can think of are Pandorum, Seven, bone tomahawk and the abyss and I loved pandorum a lot
Edit: forgot to say that it does NOT have to be specifically underwater or space movies in open to anything
My girlfriend and I are looking for mystery movie suggestions. Which are some of your favorites? Looking for movies that keep you on the edge of the seat the whole time and are next to impossible to predict. The only rule is it can’t be a horror movie as my gf doesn’t like horror. Preferably post 1990 but open to older movies if they’re that good. Limited series suggestions are also welcome. TIA!
Hi, I'm looking for some twisty mysteries, neo-noir, and revenge-type thrillers.
Maybe something where the protagonist is tracking down someone who wronged them in the past and now they've come to collect?
Anything similar to Mystic River and Prisoners.
Anything that has some interesting and unique reveals.
And anything genre-bending.
Thanks!
I'm more of a late 90's & 21st century kinda person. Movies I've already seen.
-
Shutter Island
-
Prisoners
-
Murder on the orient express
-
The shining
-
Death on the Nile
-
All of sherlock holmes
You could say every thriller in IMDB's top 200 from late 90's & 21st century.
Can someone suggest a good movie of the same era pleaseee
My Dog and I are a pair of Couch detectives and we love a good mystery. Things like Knives out, Gone Girl, Disappearance at Clifton Hill, Searching, CloveHitch Killer,The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Prisoners etc. currently watching the True Detective series until I get a good recommendation!!
I really like watching mystery media, games, books, movies, all of it. I quite like it as the cast of characters shrinks as well.
As far as mystery movies I’ve watched (not many), they are:
Clue
Knives Out
The Thing (1982)
I’m not much a movie person, but I would like to watch more!
Some more great thriller/mystery movies that get's you to the edge of your seat? I've watched couple of them, can you guys suggest me more, i've watched:
Seven Mystic river Angel heart Wait until dark Dolores claiborne Prestige Shutter island Blue velvet The Game The shining Identity Silence of the lamb Misery
I love watching mystery. I have watched some and I want to see some more but there's only one condition- "It shouldn't be a slow burner (unless it's really really good)" . Language isn't the problem as long as it's good.
I have already seen some famous ones which I really liked Gone girl, memories of murder, 12 angry man, Silence of the lambs, Zodiac, seven, I saw the devil, primal fear, the usual suspect, the invisible guest etc.
In shows I have already watched Dexter, and then there were none, Mouse, True detective, The wire, the blacklist, flower of evil, The mentalist etc.
I want something where the protagonist and antagonists are equally smart and cunning. Please suggest me some good ones. If it's a good murder mystery then it would be best.
P.S. - You can suggest me some anime too if any fight the criteria.
My partner and I just watched Trap (2024) and we were so disappointed 😪
So now we're looking for movies to watch in a similar genre and that's ACTUALLY GOOD.
Any (Pyschological) Thrillers/Mystery/Crime movie recommendations would do but hopefully, of course.... well-written....
TIA.
Something released from late 2024 to present 2025. Has seen almost every mystery movies recommended here. Also I haven’t seen movies from past 7/8 months now i’m kinda free want to watch some great movies during this monsoon.
