I just jump ship from iPhone to Android, my main app for podcasts was the default Apple Podcast app. The app isn't available for Android (I know, shocker) and would like something similar to it. Hopefully something not too bad heavy.
We are interested to know what podcast apps you use, what platform you use them on, and what features make them better than all the others.
We want this sub to be as helpful as possible for podcast listeners. This info will help us update the r/podcast FAQ Wiki page and create an additional reference source for the many requests we receive asking for podcast app recommendations.

Any reason why you use it over others?
I was using stitcher for the last 8 years but they just updated and now the app is too weird. They used to keep the podcast in order so they would be in the same order every time I opened the app. Now they appear based on the newest first. I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion where I can keep the podcast in the order I want.
I'm an Android user and currently use Podbean as my primary podcast app. I just wanted to know if there are any better ones out there, and if there are, do they also have websites on which I can listen to podcasts (for when I'm on my laptop, for example)?
I use podcast addict. I like it but I think I paid 99¢ to remove ads. And no idea if it has any website.
Since Pocket Casts shit the bed and downdated the App, I'd recommend Podcast Republic if you want something feature rich or Castbox if clean and simple is your preference.
Edit: Neither have PC sync support for your account, but Castbox has a website where you can play podcasts from.
I'm using Castbox(free) as of now. I like it but it has a few bugs. There are way too many popular podcast apps in the play store so I'd love to know what your top pick is and why.
Thank you in advance.
I've used the Stitcher app for years, but the recent mobile update has now rendered the UI, at best, clunky on a good day, and infuriatingly unintuitive the other 7 days of the week. What are some of the better apps, especially ones that let me easily categorize subscriptions, download episodes, and not make we want to rake out my eyeballs in frustration?
(I know it's been asked before, but I need more options!) I have an android phone. Ever since Google got rid of their podcast app, I've been STRUGGLING. I hate YouTube music.
▪️I tried Antennapod. I liked it's layout but the app kept making episodes skip during playback. ▪️I briefly tried Podcast Addict but the ads at the bottom of the screen was off putting.
▪️I'm currently using Pocket Casts but I hate the layout 😭
Can someone please tell me where else I can listen to my shows??
I changed to Spotify after the fall of Stitcher, but I don't love it. What are you using?
My ancient iTouch is not what it used to be, so I need to start listening to podcasts on my phone. Any recommendations for podcast apps, especially for a MBMBAM fan?
Thanks!
Hello fellow redditors, I've been listening to podcasts for a few years now and once in awhile I'll venture out and try a new app, but I always come back to Pocketcasts. Something about it just works best for me, I find it simple and intuitive.
What app(s) do you like and why?
I've used Google Podcasts, but I've gotten tired of the lack of volume boost (also I just read that Google is killing the app next year).
I've tried different apps from the Playstore and settled on Pocket Casts and Podbean.
I'm trying to decide which of the two is better, or if you know another good app then please tell me about it.
Preferably No ads
Free is nice, but I'm willing to pay a one time fee (no subscriptions) for an ad free version.
Supposedly Podbean I believe has ads for their free version, but I have yet to see any.
Thanks
I listen to podcasts on Google Play right now, but their selection is lacking and the app functionality for podcasts is Meh at best... What do you use and why do you like it?
Edit: Google Play also completely neglects the fiction genre so finding new audiodramas using Google Play is impossible.
What app do you use to listen to podcasts? I'm frustrated. I used to use the standard app ok my Samsung phone...then i got a Pixel. The app nowhere near as good. Ive truer Spotify. Podbean and a few others. But none of them seem to have the functions l like. What do you use?
My subscription to Podcast Addict is up in September so lately I've been searching around other podcast apps to see what is out there and if I like them. The first one I tried was Pocketcasts, which I was familiar with from IOS, but I didn't entirely like how it looked on Android Auto. Then I tried Podcast Republic and Antennapod and for some reason even though I had it set to auto download, Antennapod didn't Auto Download. As for Podcast Republic, that was probably my next favorite but I had set the app to delete downloads after the episode was played and it didn't do that. Maybe I was doing things wrong on all three of the different apps but I found myself coming back to Podcast Addict just for it's simplicity and basic use. Maybe I'm just more familiar with it over the others, but it does everything I want it to do and it just feels really organized. I wish they had a single pay donation though, but I would pay the developer for how he can maintain it. Also, Pocketcasts needs an episode filter feature which I have found really nice, especially because I have a podcast that airs a classic episode each week and I don't need to listen to it since i've heard them all.
Am I doing things wrong on the other apps or am I just missing something. I see these android apps recommended a lot but with Antennapod and Pocketcasts, I found them kind of lacking.
I have been using Google podcast for a long time now and I don't really like it what are some good podcast apps I can try?
Amazon Music is very temperamental and drives me crazy. What app works best for you and why do you love it?
Hey everyone! I was an Apple Podcasts user for a several years, but for the past few years I've been using Overcast.
However, neither of them can do the one specific thing I want. I'm hoping the readers of this sub can point me to an app that can do this:
What I want, TL;DR form:
an app that can show me the oldest unheard episode in a podcast.
Longer form:
I don't really care about 'playlists' - i rarely need to queue up podcasts to play one after another (except when i'm in the shower and consuming short news podcasts).
Rather, I'd like to be able to sort my podcasts into 'buckets' (like "Daily" or "Comedy" or "Narrative") and when I look at the podcasts in that bucket, I see the oldest unheard episode.
So let's say I just discovered Smartless and I'm very into it, but have only heard 5 episodes so far. I want to look into my "interview" podcast bucket and see the _oldest_ Smartless that I haven't listened to yet.
Can any podcast app do this?
