Hey guys. I know there are a few older posts about this but I'm looking for something up to date, and I don't want to necro a bunch of threads.
I live in Canada, and am looking for a second standing desk. I bought a Fully for my main living room/gaming/entertainment area juuuuust before they got bought by Herman Miller and I love it. I wanted to get a second one for my office area, but, unfortunately, since they got absorbed Fully has basically no options, including "any colour other than bamboo". So I'm annoyed and don't have a go-to anymore.
I've been trying to do the research again, but a lot of info is out of date, and it's hard to consolidate everything in my head atm as I'm both a full-time student, and working a full-time job. So I'm just asking for recommendations and warnings. I'm currently leaning towards Effy (especially since they have a 20% discount atm), but I really want to get some experienced opinions before I pull the trigger.
Again, the big bit of important information in there was that I live in *Canada*. So Uplift, for e.g., is completely unfeasible as their shipping rates are baffling and ludicrous (even after the *supposed* "we'll pay what it would cost to ship it within the US"). And I say that as someone who professionally makes shipping labels for objects of varying size most work days.

I read some older related posts but wondered where fellow Canadians are buying standing desks in the age of coronavirus.
I looked at the highly-rated Uplift V2 but the shipping cost was more than the desk! It's also the same story for most American companies. I looked at a few at Costco, Staples, and Amazon but most of them don't have any 3rd party reviews or YouTube review videos. Specifically, I was looking at either Tresanti adjustable desk or Motionwise.

After looking around a bunch we're thinking of going with the Fully Jarvis over the Uplift. Wirecutter just updated their guide and the Jarvis is still their runner up (top spot went to Uplift's V2 Commercial frame), but after going through the flow on both sites, Fully had a much more reasonable shipping fee to Canada than Uplift. They also sell a few of the recommended accessories (monitor arms, etc.) that you can bundle with your order.

Might be a couple months too late but I didn't have luck finding many Canadian reviews for sit stand desks so wanted to crosspost a few topics to help others. I did a lot of research to accommodate a WFH situation. My top pick was Uplift but the shipping to Canada is nearly as much as the desk, so that was a no-go. I then looked at Progressive Desk, VariCanada (VariDesk) and Herman Miller 'Renew'. Progressive Desk: They appeared to have a quality product but couldn't find a single review. They also never had a lot of information on the desk top or any photo's that were not 3D rendered. Couldn't get a grasp on quality or look so didn't go with them. Herman Miller: Obviously one of the highest-end desks you can buy, which I was willing to purchase as a lifetime investment (as you do with all Herman Miller furniture). I also found it difficult to get reviews on the 'renew' desk and the price was getting a little extreme with cable management and other options for the top. Even though I didn't go with this option in the end I believe it would be a solid investment if you are a furniture guru with the cash to burn. VariDesk/VariCanada: This company has been in the standing desk business longer than others. They had many reviews, an exclusive Canada site and several desk options including accessories. Ergonofis: Montreal company. Has only a few reviews but all are good. Appear to be a quality manufacturer that uses very high-end parts and local, sustainable wood tops. I love their tops however I actually didn't care for the inlay control pad (I prefer the ones hidden under the desk) and their cable management options were very limited. Their desks are not a pricey as Herman Miller but definitely more than others, although, from what I could tell, were appropriate for the quality you receive. Overall, I was looking for quality and look. I wanted a wood or wood-look top with a strong company to back their work seeing that regardless of your choice they were all around $1000 or more. In the end, after weeks of deliberation I went with Vari. It shipped super fast (within days), had excellent packaging and super-easy setup. Normally I wouldn't be concerned about a desks packaging/branding or how easy it was to setup but after the Vari experience I can see how I would be disappointed now if I experienced anything less. Vari even through in a few free accessories as a surprise (cable ties, coaster, accessory hooks) - which was a very nice added touch. The desk is surprisingly great quality, sturdy even at the highest settings. Quiet, quick and looks very sleek and professional. I got the reclaimed wood top which looks very real unless you get really close with a discerning eye. I also purchased the cable management tray which is an OCD dream. All the bracketing is pre-installed under the desk, including optional accessory mounts for future purchase. Cables are nicely hidden with included cable ties and stickies. In the end, I'm glad I didn't spend double on the Ergonofis or 3-4x on a Herman Miller.
