Black vanity top: what to do?
Granite vs quartz for a bathroom vanity top
How to decorate bathroom with dark counter tops and dark vanity?
How to decorate a bathroom that has a granite color I hate?

Moved into a house recently, and trying to figure out what to do with this bathroom. It has/had a bit of a Goodfellas vibe that we are just ... not feeling. I replaced the black faucet (as you can see) and I've got some contemporary-style brushed nickel drawer pulls I'm going to replace these ones with. Definitely going to replace the light fixture with a nickel/glass contemporary look as well.
I really don't want to deal with replacing the countertop, which is a quite nice black "butterfly" granite. Problem is we really don't like the black for a bathroom. So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for minimizing the high-contrast 80's-ish look and making the room feel more airy and light despite the black countertop, particularly in terms of color combinations for painting the vanity + mirror frame, wall color, and updating the flooring (we used a white Carrara-marble-style peel-and-stick tile in our other bathroom that looks shockingly nice, which I'd love to use again if it'll work).

Any ideas would be much appreciated!
