So I have a Samsung UN43NU6900 Smart TV and I currently use either the built in speakers or some external desktop speakers using the Digital Audio Out Optical plug.
Is there any way I can add Bluetooth to this TV to be able to use Bluetooth headphones for listening to audio? I know the traditional way to do this is with an aux (3.5mm) plug but unfortunately this model does not have one.

I hate it. It forgets my headphones if I haven't used it in a few days and re-pairing is a pain in the ass if I don't time it exactly right.
Anyone have a better device they can suggest?
Or are my headphones the problem? I have 2 pairs:
JVC
Sony (which have issues pairing with my iPhone too, so I might ditch these soon)
Otherwise, I'm just gonna go back to running my headphones through my phone's Roku app. It's annoying, but at least I don't have to keep going through this pairing BS constantly.

It’s likely both your device and headphones causing the pain. Upgrade to Apple TV + multipoint Bluetooth headphones for best results, or use a Bluetooth transmitter with your TV to skip the pairing headache. Roku app is fine as a fallback, but there's definitely smoother gear out there.

August 27, 2023 - Similar to what @noiseboy72 said above, I solved a similar issue for my parents using the Avantree Audikast Plus from Amazon. It connects to the optical out of their Samsung TV and there is no appreciable latency so I didn't have to muck around with bluetooth delay settings. It's a good bit more expensive than the alternatives but worth it. A pair of powered Bluetooth speakers beside the seating area gives a decent experience. Note that I tried some cheap adapters before this one and they proved unreliable and needed regular pairing for when they stopped working, say every 2 weeks.
