Hi I'm going on a long 10-day trip with a rented car next month. I don't have my own car where I live, I rarely drive. I am also more old-fashioned and used to vehicles with CD or even cassette players so I genuinely don't really know how the whole bluetooth thing works. I have an app on my phone where I've kept all the songs I've downloaded in recent years but I need some kind of connector between them and the bluetooth system which will likely be installed in the rented car. Are there any good apps that you can suggest?
If you must know, the car will be a Toyota Aygo with automatic transmission.

I am looking for recommendations on a device that can pair to my car’s Bluetooth system in addition to the normal headphone applications. I purchased a new car last year and a lot of “dumb” Bluetooth devices can’t connect to it. It is easy to pair a phone to it because you have a UI which you can enter the pairing code. Do any of the Android players have this feature?
The Bluetooth snoop log with the other players shows that the players do not support browsing as part of the GetFolderItems request on AVRCP. That is the reason why browsing is not working with other players. It shows that browsing support is advertised only with GPM and the player is marked as BluetoothPlayer and not GPM in the snoop log.
This "browse" feature is probably part of "Audio/Video Remote Control Profile" aka AVRCP. AVRCP has different versions with different feature sets. Browsing of playlists was introduced in version AVRCP 1.4 and improved in version 1.5, according to Wikipedia.
This Bluetooth profile must be supported (in the correct version) by the car stereo, the mobile phone as well as the app.
I've got the innioasis g3 player but the Bluetooth keeps turning off when I connect it to my car(Ford Kuga) which I can't understand why this keeps happening so I'm going to return it and hopefully get a different mp3 player that will connect to my car via Bluetooth. Does anybody have any recommendations on a good value for money Bluetooth mp3 player please?
Many thanks!
I've been using a 160GB iPod Classic for YEARS now for car audio. The simple USB setup worked perfectly for turning the key and having the music pumping immediately.
However, even after compressing my collection, it seems time's caught up to the old boy and I'm pretty much out of space.
I have all my music on my Android, but I hate fiddling with bluetooth, as it's not as simple as turning the car on and being good to go. There are also a few other issues that steer me away from bluetooth, such as song info not displaying half the time and needing to look at my phone while driving (not a fan for obvious reasons). The iPod connection via USB allowed for a lot of control directly from the main car display.
It seems like the only options out there are terribly-rated 32gb max Chinese units for $40 or $500-$1k ultra high def WAV format powerhouses meant to be used with headphones.
Does anyone know of a simple, honest-to-god mp3/AAC or other type of music player that isn't one of the two extremes mentioned above that I can just plug into my 2013 car and enjoy? Particularly one that has a lot of storage space or room to expand (microSD, etc.)?
Thanks so much to one of my favorite subreddits!
I remember there was such an app in the past. Can't find it now.
I ask this because many times, no matter which player I use, it fails to start playing music when I connect to my car's Bluetooth (automatically).
This issue has occurred to me on my Pixel 2, and still occurs from time to time on my Pixel 4. I think it started from some Android version, because I remember it worked perfectly fine on Nexus 5x.
Today I use Musicolet as my music player app, BTW. I use Musicolet because it's the only music player app that lets me perform range-selection (from one item to another in the list), which I use for deletion.
