I bought a Bose Mini Soundlink II last year, twice. Had to return the first one within 2 months because the sound was spotty, got a new one. Now this second one literally won't charge or turn on and the Bose warranty expired according to their website. Is the Costco return policy limited for speakers?
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with, or thoughts on, the Bose SoundLink Flex SE? It's currently for sale at Costco for $119.99. Amazon is selling what looks to be the same speaker for $133.20 so subtracting the 5% cashback for using the Prime card it's just about the same price as the Costco speaker. My use will be pretty much just streaming music through SiriusXM in one room and I might also try it out in my car. I originally posted here last week looking for a bookshelf speaker recommendation but I thought maybe something like this is all I need? It's smaller than a bookshelf speaker which is nice and its portable which is also nice. But then I like being able to just plug a device into an outlet so I don't have to have another cord to charge something. I don't understand any of the specs on these devices but I'm guessing the bookshelf speaker is going to be louder and better sound? I listened to the Bose at Costco today and was surprised how good it sounded but I noticed that when I stood a little off to the side of the speaker it didn't sound quite as good so I'm wondering if it's something that only sounds good when a person is directly in front of it?
On Costco and Sam’s club website it shows up as “Bose Soundlink Flex SE” as opposed to just “Bose Soundlink Flex” on Best Buy and targets website. All the reviews I watched don’t say “SE” and there aren’t really reviews on it. Does anyone know the difference or are these the same exact speaker?
Currently own the beats pill. I need a loud speaker that does well outdoors. Does anyone have experienced with these speakers? Does the Bose speaker do better outdoors? Is it worth buying over the beats pill?
Beats Pill doesn't have a water resistance ratings according to rtings.com. Looks like the Bose one can float, and it got a notable mention

I'd probably stick with the Pill if you already own it.
Buy both, return the one you like the least
Here are some tips that can help you decide:
Is battery life important to you? Find something above 20 hours average playtime.
Is clarity important to you find aomething that isn’t too bass heavy.
Is adaptability important? Do you want something durable that can withstand water/dust/impacts
Is price a factor? This is probably going to narrow down the search the most. Is you budget under $300? $200? $100?
Are the controls ergonomically designed?
Is it weather resistant so I can safely use it outside?
Is it water resistant, or even water proof, so it will be safe to use at the pool, beach, or when boating?
Does it have a dock so I can also charge my device while listening to it?
Is it iOS and/or Android compatible?
Does it also have an auxiliary input in case I need it?
Do check for handy extras. Quick device pairing, USB-C connectivity, speakerphone functions, and accessory charging capabilities rate high, then there’s the option to pair other speakers, too.
Lastly. If you’re thinking that most of these are unimportant to you, and you’re not the huge audiophile, then just look for something that can play fairly loud and looks nice.
If all or most of these questions can be answered favorably, I would say you're about to make a great choice in a Bluetooth speaker.
Best Blue Speaker To Buy in Today's Market
Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Sonos Roam Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
JBL Boombox 3 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Ultimate Ears Hyperboom Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Klipsch Detroit Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
Anker Soundcore Boom 2 Plus
I suggest looking for longer battery lifespans and the ability to sync in additional speakers. Carrying handles are also a nice bonus, but not essential. All in all, your lifestyle will make the decision for you. Basshead or cultured music aficionado, there’s a bluetooth speaker in this review that will slot perfectly into that lifestyle. That being said, happy wireless travels to you, backed by your own Bluetooth provided soundtrack.
What are your thoughts on these options? Do you guys have other suggestiosn?
Our Bose just died after a few years. We used it both inside and for entertaining on our patio outside. We got it at Costco, but I don’t love any of the options they have now.
Any suggestions for a new speaker with the following specs?
-
under $200
-
both Bluetooth and Aux connection
-
microphone for answer calls is nice, but optional
-
high quality audio for both inside and outside projection. We use it for music as well as connecting to an outdoor TV for movie nights.
-
waterproof/ resistant. We’d consider getting the same soundlink, but are looking for something more suited for using outside with kids around
Check out the StanbyME XT7 by LG....
I'd recommend checking out the rankings that are pinned in this sub especially the Large and Boombox sized speakers.
You probably want something like a Tribit Stormbox Blast or smaller would be a Mifa Wildbox which would get loud enough for outside use and have an aux input.
I personally use 2 Tribit Stormbox Blast outdoors.
Went to Costco to buy milk, found this previous gen speaker sound link se for 45 bucks and tax free as we are in Delaware. A good deal to pair with my earlier purchase i got from costco for 99.
The best Bluetooth speaker I’ve owned. Bought from Costco 2020 and is used everyday. Amazing sound quality and battery life.
The display at the store (nor online) didn't say whether it was the Soundlink II or not. It's priced at $179
