Looking to buy a case for a sierra blue pro max. I've done a lot of research and I think it will come down to either a Nomad or Bullstrap case, but I can't decide between the two. Any thoughts or opinions on these (especially if you've tried the latest iterations)?

More details about the specific things I'm thinking about below! Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, opinions, etc., that you are able to provide!

I have AppleCare+, but still it's hard to think about using such an expensive purchase without any protection. I like the brown color on the Nomad case best compared to all other Nomad or Bullstrap cases, but would be interested in Bullstrap Sienna once it patinas.

Main things keeping me from pulling the trigger on Nomad right now are some reviews mentioning the non-leather sides can be a little slippery, the buttons don't work great, and the leather on the back seems to be pretty thin (although that may be a positive, as I don't want to add any more bulk than I have to).

Conversely, Bullstrap has leather around the entire casing, apparently has much better buttons, and I'm not sure how thick or thin the leather and overall bulkiness is compared to Nomad.

Found this thread via Google. I had a Bullstrap case, and while it was high quality it did a poor job protecting my phone. By month 4 I had to throw it away as the case itself had a deep tear running along one of the corners that you could see through. I replaced it with a Nomad case, and the Nomad case leather doesn’t seem as soft or supple, but it seems significantly more durable and protective. If you’re not klutzy the Bullstrap is probably the better option if you want to prioritize looks, but for me the Nomad is a much, much better case.

which one has a higher quality leather? i'm really drawn to the sienna brown/tan color that bullstrap has...but am also worried about the level of drop protection it offers.

From what I gather from macrumors forum: Nomad will have the better drop protection, but Bullstrap and Andar will have nicer leather. Depends on what level of drop protection you’re comfortable with. Nomad’s leather also doesn’t wrap around fully to the edges.

My bullstrap case for the iPhone 12 mini had nice leather but terrible drop protection. It wasn’t very tight so the edges of my display got scuffed up. And the bottom is completely unprotected. I just got a nomad horween leather case yesterday and it has a much better fit on my 14 pro.

I’ve had Ryan London before but I bought the black one for my 17 Pro and didn’t love it. It felt really thick for some reason. That said I had a black and tan for my 15 Pro and the tan felt thinner 🤷🏻‍♂️ It also had a beautiful patina after a few months.

What are people finding are the best options for the 17 Pro? I’m wanting another tan and would like it to patina so I’m led to believe someone like Mujjo isn’t the best option for that due to the coating on the leather?

Don’t love the look of the Bullstrap with the weird hybrid plateau cover thing but, if it’s the nicest feeling option then I can live with it of course.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for the other brands, but I got the Nomad Modern in the burgundy chromexcel leather. Smells amazing, leather feels great, and it feels super slim in my hand. I know the plastic sides isn't everyone's cup of tea but I've grown to love it, they have divots on either side that are really comfortable for holding the phone and it sits almost flush with the screen. Also the buttons feel really nice, very clicky without much effort.
