December 26, 2024How do I go about printing out business cards that I made as vectors in AI? Do I just bring the file to a print shop?
File → Save a Copy → PDF Open the copy, select all, Type→Convert to Outlines Upload the PDF files to the print shop. Many print shops will take AI files, but it is easier to make mistakes if you give them the AI, so I would recommend giving them the PDF. (As a general rule, print as PDF and outline your text unless you have a specific reason not to. PDF should give the printer the font without outlining, but in some circumstances you run into problems or they specifically want it outline. Do not save it in a raster format such as jpg or png.) February 4, 2019I made this business card for both sides. Only problem is that don’t know how to get these both printed in one card. I’m not familiar with printing stuff.
Did you set up 2 art boards? If you did you can just save that as a high resolution pdf and it will create a 2 page document for you to print. See those red lines around the outside? That’s the bleed line. Whenever something touches the edge of the card you need to extend it out to the red line so that when they’re cut, it doesn’t leave a little white edge if it’s not 100% right. I’d also check your type position there. The words come way too close to the edge for safety. Try to keep your words at least 5mm from the sides. More on reddit.com

I think this is cool / useful for business card mock ups. But it'd be more useful if you could replace the need for a designer by actually adding actual accurate text, instead of the image generated proxies that DALLE uses, so it's print ready. Extra points if it is the right dimensions and was integrated with a print on demand service so it's delivered to you. I know that's much harder, but it would be much more useful and something I'd totally pay for =)
