May 9, 2022 - Biel is good, I like her here more than in 'Sinner' I must say, Melanie Lynskey had my heart since "Heavenly Creatures' and Pablo Schreiber surprised & convinced me in 'Lorelei'. Super cast so far. I'd binge if they were all out. (The 90s movie "Killing in a small town' is also recommendable btw!) 7 stars for now - could turn into 8 after Friday. What I find confusing is a second mini series with Olsen as Candy coming out this year.

It's actually pretty good! I mean, there is a lot of weird early 80's Texas stuff going on in this story, but it's pretty compelling and it seems to move right along.
The thing that I thought was funny/interesting is, I know about exactly 2 famous axe murders. This one and Lizzie Borden. If you know the Lizzie Borden rhyme it goes ... Lizzie Borden took an ax

And in this movie, the TV reporter says Mrs. Gore was hit 41 times.
Maybe it just takes 40-41 whacks to kill someone with an axe! I mean, 100% of the axe murders I know about took 41 whacks.
Oh, and you know what else I thought was kind of noteworthy. Here are Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake making a movie together and it's all about cheaters who are caught and everyone knows about it. Just thought it was interesting after his little whatever that was when he got busted. Bet that made for some fun nights of running lines at home, right?

Barbara Hershey won an Emmy for playing a very slightly-fictionalized version of this woman back in... I think it was 1990. And I think that there's another version with Elizabeth Olsen coming out on HBO later in the year, which is like a low-cost version of the year Dante's Peak and Volcano came out, or Armageddon and Deep Impact, or Tombstone in '93 and Wyatt Earp in '94. Or Antz and A Bug's Life. Or Mission to Mars and Red Planet. Or White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen. And this is what happens when the first studio exec that passes on your script calls up another screenwriter and goes, "I got a great idea for a movie!"

Barbara Hershey did a great job playing Candy. I remember watching the movie when I was a kid with my mom and it actually scared me a little how good Barbara was. I'm only on episode 2 now, but Jessica is doing a great job.
