Hello Lovely people,
I am currently trying to film using my EOS RP camera, I have the camera connected directly to my computer via USB cable, I can take pictures just fine and they save directly to the desktop, but when it comes to the filming I keep getting a "capture failed" error. Online resources tell me to insert a memory card, I thought that because I have it connected directly to the desktop that I would not need to have a card as I want to save it to the desktop and not a memory card.
does anyone have any advice?
Tethered capture through USB is only for photos. You cannot capture video through USB.
First question: what OS? With Windows you can record video without problems (using your EOS RP as a webcam connected via USB, and then using any recording software: i.e. Adobe or OSB).
Take a look at this tutorial:

In Mac OS there were some problems, but I guess Canon has already fixed it.
Of course there is another question: why you want to record video using USB? Webcam/streaming is probably the only reasonable application, that's why Canon did it in this way.

Hey all
my friend wants me to record a concert, I've got a Canon RP. I almost exclusively use it for photos so I need advice on the best use for it.
Do I need the webcam kit? (plug in battery, USB cable?)
Should I just run it raw w/o anything plugged into it and hope for the best?
I definitely want at least 4k/30 (edited from 60 my bad). My memory card says it can do over 2 hours on it (it's a big one) so I should be good there, right?
Im' running it right now for a 15 minute test to see battery drain/quality/etc.
Thanks in advance for your tips.
So I know this is covered in the FAQ tab but my question is still unanswered.
I saw the Canon EOS RP secondhad with 2 lenses ( RF 24-105 f4 L and EF 50 f1.8) and the mount. (and some batterys and charger and a sd card. For 1850 euro.
I'm mostly into filming, but I like taking photo's a lot as well. I've read quite some negative feedback on the new RP from canon...
Can anyone please tell me if this is a good buy or not?
