So I just watched Matt Clausen's latest YouTube video on the Freedom Flex (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE-9GVkEqHc&t=196s) and what's interesting is he knows that surveys about the CFU and CFF did go out to some people earlier this year..... and that got me thinking.
He says in there that he has heard that surveys were sent out about the CFU and CFF in the last few months and in the survey about the CFF, there were a couple options that seems to replicate the Citi Custom Cash as well as options that largely kept the card as is and another that seemed to offer the categories that Chase has historically neglected --one could assume gas and *all* groceries.
I would assume that the card is being refreshed and maybe even moving over the Visa network as well. I have no idea how long Chase's contract with Mastercard was for the CFF, but it will hit 5 years this September.... so that could make sense. We'll see. But it does feel like an update/refresh is coming.
The easiest assumption next for the CFU would be for it to just become a standard catch-all card at 2x.
Then lastly for the CSP, I could see them doing something like they did to the CSR and eliminating the 2x travel/transit and making it just 3x on Flights and Hotels. Maybe an AF hike to $150, but if they did up the AF, I think that's as high as they'd go.
I know most of us have complained about the overlap in categories, but if these types of changes -- or something similar -- happen, Chase and it's trifecta could be better than ever before
