Just bumped into a 25% off annual deal on claude's website and am thinking about grabbing it. I know a lot of people use Claude for coding, but I’m not a coder. I mainly use use AI for drafting emails, work stuff, simple spreadsheets, data analysis, household tasks, and sometimes just to vent. Had Perplexity last year but found myself using Claude or ChatGPT more often.

Since I can only afford an annual plan, I wanna make sure it’s the right move. I think memory and live internet search are things I’ll miss from Perplexity or ChatGPT. Any chance Claude adds those or something similar at some point?

Any other non-coders here on the annual plan? Worth locking in for a year?

With as fast as things change, going monthly and jumping to different paid services seems better to me. One month one tool is better, the next month something else is better.

It's really hard to predict what is going to happen over the next year. We were expecting Claude 4.0 Sonnet, it turned out to be Claude 3.7 Sonnet. OpenAI's GPT-4.5 probably coming out this week, with GPT-5 Orion coming out at the end of May. Gemini 2.0 is the best multimodal model. Grok 3 is the first model trained with 1026 FLOPs of power. Not even to mention open source models like Deepseek or Llama. That said, ever since Claude 3 Opus and especially Claude 3.5 Sonnet, I've always returned to Claude as my favorite model for coding and for it's personality. Also, a year of Claude at 25% off is cheaper than 1 month of ChatGPT Pro...that's a pretty good deal! Edit: I upgraded!

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo founder building my first web app and I’ve been using Claude Code Pro for coding and debugging. Lately, I’ve been constantly hitting the 5-hour daily usage limit, which is slowing me down a lot.

I’m thinking about upgrading to the Max plan ($200 NZD / ~$120 USD per month) for unlimited/extended access. I have no steady income right now, but I’ve freed up some budget

I want to hear from people who have experience:

Is the Max plan actually worth it for someone hitting daily limits on Pro?
Will it save enough time and frustration to justify the cost?
Any tips to get the most value out of the Max plan as a solo builder?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out if it’s a worthwhile investment in speed/productivity for my first project.

Tipps: use claudecode + claude in Visual studio. Use MCP tools depending on what you are doing. The 2 things you have influence on that affects the outcome is the Prompt and the Documentation. Think of it like beeing an cartographer and Engineer who maps a racetrack and builds a racing car. You map out the track's shape(documentation) and build the racing car (prompt). the driver is claude. The More descriptive and concise you are, the better the documentation is that claude can access, the more reliable will its outputs be. Be Methodological. its easy to ignore best practice prompting at some point out of frustration and just tell claude to "fix it". This can end badly. Depending on project size, consider Multiple agents. Multiple agents have different purposes and domain knowledge of parts of the project and can be called on demand. Also in parallel, and to review created plans. Always have claude create a plan based on what you want, make it ask you questions about the plan. Make it give you suggestions and recommendations. Only when you feel the plan covers everything let claude execute it.

Could be wrong but it seems to be a specialized version of Claude, "tailored for higher education institutions". In this article they have examples like, drafting literature reviews with proper citations, working through calculus problems, etc. I wonder if it's just a claude with parental controls lol. All data could be tracked by admin, so I would be careful about cheating. There is something super cool though, students can request for funding in form of API credits. EDIT: trying it out it seems the same, it's on the enterprise plan
