It's something that I wonder about every once in a while. The last big, hit comedy movie I can remember watching was We're The Millers. Not a superhero comedy, not action comedy, not a bad sequel to an old movie. Just a regular standalone comedy movie.

The genre seems to have dried up, compared to the state of comedy in the early aughts where movies were coming out back to back. I guess people got tired of sex jokes and weed movies.

EDIT: for the record I'm not asking for lewd and weed joke comedies, I'm just stating that it has gone out of fashion. I'm looking for solely comedy focused movies regardless of context.
