Parts Express still has a mailing list and will send you multiple "magazine" style publications every year with items on sale, new arrivals, project ideas, and more stuff like that. They used to send you one large catalog with their entire inventory when you signed up for their mailing list but I'm not sure if they still do that. That's a nice find on the Crutchfield catalogs!

Through the end of the 1970s, the car stereo industry flourished and so did Crutchfield. The decade of the 1980s brought some new challenges to our business, along with some great successes, and our first full-color catalog. In Crutchfield’s early days, car stereo was mainly a do-it-yourself business. But by 1980, car stereo products were becoming more sophisticated and more difficult to install.

I was more into building my fantasy home system... ... Their install kits and instructions were so nice. ... it was incredibly solid too, no rattle at all, shit hit like a goddamn truck and i loved every second of it. February 10, 2025 - As a result, I personally typed the first 10,000 names and addresses of our catalog inquirers using sheets of four-layer mailing labels. Having carbon paper between the layers meant that I produced an original and three copies of every label as I typed. When catalogs were returned from the printer, I would manually affix the labels to the catalogs by wetting them with my tongue or a sponge.
