Wow haven’t heard Crutchfield in a while. They were the go-to source for hooking up CD players in cars back in the day. I’m talking about the Pioneer stereos with detachable faces. Didn’t know they were still around, but yes I had a positive experience with them. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

I'm considering purchasing some big speakers from Crutchfield, high end Klipsch. Was the experience positive? How amenable are they to returns/refunds?
thanks

You pay full price, unless there is a sale. But they have great customer service, are very knowledgeable and have extensive training.

How many watts will I need for my speakers?
A good rule of thumb is to stay within the power range of your speakers but look toward the upper end of that range. More power is a good thing ù it gives you stronger bass and clearer, louder sound, especially in larger rooms.

Can I stream music to an AV receiver?
Most home theater receivers have Bluetooth for wireless music streaming from your phone or other device. Some models also have Wi-Fi, which gives you better sound and range. WiFi equipped receivers also offer built-in support for popular music services like Spotify and Qobuz, and some even let you stream music to compatible speakers or components in other rooms.

What is a home theater receiver?
A home theater receiver has two main jobs: to provide sound and power to your speakers, and to send video to your TV or projector. It also lets you switch between connected sources like a Blu-ray player, cable or satellite box, or a media streamer like Roku or Apple TV 4K.

I was a full time installer for 7 years, and now only do my own car (2013 E350 benz) and friends. Find a good local shop and don't buy cheap shit.

Was there a point to this post or did some just piss in your cornflakes? Don't get me wrong I'm all for supporting local businesses, but a shop can be just as bad as anything else. Crutchfed has good information, from product overviews on YouTube to install documentation. The biggest thing they have going for them is what ever price it is of install accessories that they throw in. Sonic does it too I think but not as much.

There's a reason why every single "will this HU work in my car?" post is answered simply with "crutchfield.com". They're so ubiquitous that I don't think I've ever seen anyone suggest any site that could be considered an option. The only better one would be if someone has a local shop that is passionate about helping folks get the most out of car AV without screwing folks over, which is pretty much a unicorn.

Worked there for over a decade as a tech over the phones. The price is a bit higher in some cases, but you're paying for the experience. Virtually every car for decades has been pulled into the tech department and disassembled piece by piece and every detail documented. Also factor into the cost the free install kits/harnesses. The knowledge database is second to none, as is the customer service.
