Hi ghost712, Disconnect the battery from the computer and power on the computer only with AC adapter. Check if it computer powered on for a longer time. If yes, we can perform few troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue: Remove static power (if any) from the computer. To remove the static power, disconnect the AC adapter and battery from the computer, then press the power button for 10-15 seconds. Power on the computer with only AC adapter connected to the computer and tap F2 key repeatedly at Dell logo to enter the BIOS. Under Main Tab please check the AC adapter type (that is if it says 65W/90W or anything else). Then power off the computer and unplug the AC adapter from the wall, and from the portable computer, for five to ten seconds. Make sure the AC adapter is unplugged long enough for the LED on the AC Adapter to go out altogether. Connect the adapter and the battery to the computer then power on the computer. Please post the results. Answer from DELL-Madhur B on dell.com

Dell laptops have issues with the power regulation chip. What you need to do is pull the back cover off and unplug both the main battery and the CMOS battery. You need to be very very careful removing the CMOS battery. Do not pull the battery out by the wires. I find it’s best to use a plastic pry tool of some form, whether it be a spudger, old credit card or some other thin semi-semi blunt plastic tool. If you rock the two sides back and forth then push out the connector down the center, it will come out. The CMOS battery looks like this: https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/rWTpWLLvSdZ36TQU.large Once you have both batteries unplugged, hold the power button for 60 seconds. Yes, really, 60 seconds. Plug both batteries back in and plug in the charger, then attempt to turn the laptop on. If all went well, the CPU fan should spin over a few times before the machine finally boots back up. Put the cover back on and you’re done. Source: I’ve been working in IT Support/Management with Dell as our main vendor for the last 12 years.

Hey Madhur! Thanks for the prompt reply. I removed the battery and tried powering it on and now it doesn't power on at all. I put the battery back in and it powered on for a few seconds and went out on me. I tried the new AC adapter I bought and got the same result.
