For the budget option, I might look at the MSI gaming laptops (e.g. GS73 or GS63) as they can go to 32GB of memory and have a 8GB GPU. More on reddit.com

November 2, 2016Purchase Advice Wanted: Precision 5680
I've had the 5680 (i9, A3500) for a year and in general I like it.
It's as powerful as you think it is, but it doesn't run that hot. The fans only spin up audibly when you're pushing the system at max. But... mine has very bad DPC latency, not sure if that's how the model in general is or it's specific to my unit. This results in regular activities like scrolling, watching a video or navigating through Windows to have stutter very often, to the point it's annoying and making me sell the laptop.
This is not to say you will have the same issue, or that the ThinkPad won't either, but just sharing my experience. Battery life with a 1080p screen is maybe 5-9 hours. I upgraded mine to 4K at some point and now it's 2-5 hours.
