How do I start using the Discover Mobile app to bank?
Is the Discover Mobile app secure?
Yes. The safety and security of your account is our top priority. Here are a few ways Discover helps protect your information:
- We use encryption technology to help prevent unauthorized access to your account.
- We proactively monitor your account for any suspicious activitiy.
- Discover, a division of Capital One, N.A., is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which means your deposits are FDIC-insured up to the maximum allowed by law.

Are there any fees I need to pay to use the Discover Mobile app?
Okay, so it's not 25 years ago when online banking was still new. It's 2024 and a financial company which wants to turn more than one trick online needs to have a versatile app which is able to integrate diverse financial products and make them work together nicely. A great example might be Fidelity which has its CMA (checking account), various retirement accounts, individual brokerage accounts, and even an HSA account all play nice. You can even have the Fidelity credit card account issued by another bank show up and integrate well.
But somehow Discover card and bank accounts don't seem to mesh very well. It's almost as if they are two separate divisions of Discover who both hate each other, but are somehow forced to coexist and they are trying to make it hard on the other even if it means customers have to suffer.
Case in point: I've had a Discover checking and savings account for a while and recently got a Discover credit card. Why do I have go through the process of setting up a new account with Discover and then merging the two? Granted, it's only a small hassle but it's one I haven't gone through with other banks. When I got cards with NFCU and Cap One- the cards were showing within 24 hours of approval. But with Discover apparently the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing...
And then I go to make my first payment on my Discover Card and it says I need to add an external account. External account? What about the two accounts associated with this account on the app? Yeah, of course I know how to add the routing and account numbers as "external accounts" and pay it that way, but why should I have to? I didnt have to do it that way anywhere else. And actually, I think Cap One will let me "transfer" money from my Checking account there to my credit card account and the app is smart enough to figure out I want to make a payment.
I know Discover has other products- CDs, home loans, personal loans, etc. but I'd really hate to see the clusterf*ck things like that would add to the app...
Hey guys! I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra like a week ago. The Discover app was working earlier today but around 1pm it keeps saying to me when I log in, "Sorry something went wrong please try again". I called Discover but they didn't know what was going on but said some other android users had the same issue. There's a reddit post saying that the glitch might have to do with the new S25 series phones. Any advise or insight on what might be going on? Thanks.
