This is a list of all the characters in Dinosaur. When I was young, I wondered what their names meant, and now that I'm an adult, I wonder how they were named and what they mean, but no matter how much I search, I can't find any clues.
I was so curious at one point that I even searched on ChatGPT, but all I got was the answer that they were probably names made up by the production team...
I once even guessed that African-style naming might have been helpful. Because when creating the Dinosaur music, it was said that it was made with reference to African native music, so I wondered if the names were the same.
If only I knew the mechanism and method of how to name them, I could name them too, but it's frustrating lol
What do you think about the method and meaning of naming the Dinosaur characters?

July 21, 2022 - Additionally the guy who designed them, David Krentz, identified them as Talarurus in his posts on the Dinosaur Mailing List back in 2000 (unfortunately, the DML archives are currently down so I can't link the post). The directors originally wanted a pair of arguing Placerias but Krentz was adamant in using a Cretaceous taxon, so they settled on Talarurus.

May 19, 2000 - I like the premise: An iguanadon named Aladar and his adopted family of monkeys walk to find a new home after their's was destroyed by a meteorite to find themselves in a conflict by joining the other dinosaurs led by Kron and Neera while being chased by Carnotaurs and velociraptors. It was very interesting, but Disney, being a master of storytelling, didn't bring anything new to the story and it's character development was lacking.
