February 6, 2021 - outdoor furniture for our patio and I wanted something that doesn’t have a straight back (back and seat at 90 degrees). I didn’t want to do Adirondack style either, just a bit loungy. I really liked a design on · Arhaus but they were $1500+ just for one chair, and over $4k for the sofa. All the diy videos that I saw had straight backs, so I went ahead and designed it on Sketchup.

Made outdoor furniture for the first time
We were looking for outdoor furniture for our patio and I wanted something that doesn’t have a straight back (back and seat at 90 degrees). I didn’t want to do Adirondack style either, just a bit loungy. I really liked a design on Arhaus but they were $1500+ just for one chair, and over $4k for the sofa. All the diy videos that I saw had straight backs, so I went ahead and designed it on Sketchup. I used Douglas fir 2x4s for the wood. It was a huge learning process. I used arborcoat exterior stain for staining them and did 2 coats of exterior spar varnish for added protection. More on reddit.com

Stackable sling mesh chairs. Inexpensive, no maintenance. Easy to stack away in winter if you want to, or just leave them out year round. More on reddit.com

July 5, 2021 - I have no idea what I'm doing at all, but I made an outdoor chair for the kiddo and I wiped contact cement on the end grains of boards near the ground and let it dry for a day. The glue was cheap so that's what I went with. Hopefully someone will come along to tell me it was a bad idea (the kiddo chair is on the lawn, not a patio like yours .. ) ... May be more than you're looking for, but these recessed "leveling feet" will provide space between the furniture and the wet flooring.
