Does anyone know if the unattended clothing location bins that you see at the intersection of some streets actually go to good causes? The Goodwill's near me aren't accepting clothing donations currently and I've been needing to get rid of a few bags of clothes. I've contemplated using the unattended bins but would like to know if they're legit.

Does anyone know if the unattended clothing location bins that you see at the intersection of some streets actually go to good causes? Bunch of scummy ass company's masquerading as 501C non-profit charities sets up these bins. The companies sell the donated clothes (by weight) to tertiary markets primarily in Africa. If it wasn't profitable, you wouldn't see them everywhere.

I agree with the response regarding the bins being for profit. And often the clothing is destroyed while in the bins. Out of the Closet is accepting donations. They sometimes offer free pickup depending on your items, you can call directly to inquire. Out of the Closet During rainy seasons I just keep extra clothing to donate inside 2 plastic bags in my car. You can hand it directly to an unhoused person who needs dry clothing to stay warm. The bags keep the clothing clean & they can use them for their shoes to keep their feet dry. You might save a life.
