I bought this vacuum around 6 months ago. It is the best vacuum I have experienced. I have dogs that shed a lot, and it picks up the hair very well. I love the portability. The canister has to be emptied pretty frequently, but to me that is a fair tradeoff for not having to deal with a cord. Needing a new vacuum and have been wanting something like this for awhile. We have 2 dogs, so I was thinking this could be perfect. Since it’s on sale until 10/22 I was wondering if I should just get it. Regular price $499, on sale for $399. Anyone with this vacuum have pros or cons they could share?

I think Dyson vacuums are great. Many family members and friends use them as well, and they've been happy with the. Especially the attachment for upholstery if you pets. The battery dies very quickly if you use the top sled (there are three, I use the top for couch, thick carpets, etc). I bought this vacuum on sale at Costco too a couple years back. I haven't done the research, but if I were I would look at the specs of the new models and see if it's worth buying the old model (it may be if the additions are cosmetic, etc).

Currently on sale for $575 and I've been looking for a new vacuum.
If you don't think it's worth it, please recommend something similar. Would prefer something that comes with a few extra attachments.
For a little more context, I have 2 dogs who shed quite a lot so I vacuum and sweep multiple times a week. Our apartment is laminate and we have a couple area rugs/door mats that get vacuumed.
Edit to add: I ended up buying the V8 absolute on the Dyson website as they had a 20% off sale (and I shopped through the aeroplan e store for aeroplan points)

We have the corded animal and the V10. We have one dog and one cat. The V10 works great and will pull hair and dander out of your carpet that you thought was clean. Only complaint is that the battery goes fast on high but I suppose that’s to be expected.

Personal opinion based on owning a few dyson’s and also being in an industry that sees how many are disposed of, Dyson’s are the best on the market when they work but when they decide to stop working (which they tend to do) than they are just expensive paper weights.
