Happened recently and just made me wince.
It’s only true when you have an actually supportive, caring family. I wish my family could have been my everything.
I wish people wouldn’t make comments like this. It just sucks for people like us that have to cut off our toxic family members.
That’s all. I just wish people would consider how insensitive it is to throw around general comments like that.
People who say "Family First" or "Family Is Everything" almost always have the most fucked up family dynamics.
You mean people who post that shit on facebook, along with minion memes about being proud to be a bitch and stuff like that.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb".
Just because you share blood relation with someone doesn't mean they're your family; your family is who you make of it.
More on reddit.comI think family is such an overrated concept.
Yeah. As an adult, I've made relations with non-family who have felt so much more close than my actual blood-related relatives.
It doesn't help that in so many areas of society, there is this constant theme/message that family is everything. That no matter what happens, "you'll always have family" even if they treat you like nothing.

Fuck blood family. All mine are horrible ass toxic people. My family are the people who have been there for me through everything. My bestfriend and his family, my girlfriend and her family. My blood hasn't done shit for me except continue to be a thorn in my ass. I'm just waiting for them to die.
