FedEx or Canada Post when shipping parcels across Canada?
All else equal, I’ve found FedEx to be a giant pain as the person receiving the package. If Canada Post tries to deliver it and you’re not home, you can pick it up at your local post office which is usually very close by. When you miss a FedEx delivery, you have to pick it up at their main warehouse which is often far away (as in 30-40 minutes by car or over an hour on transit). At least, that’s been my experience. Fun fact: FedEx is shitting itself right now.
FedEx fucking sucks. I own a business that ships parts Canada-wide and I refuse to use FedEx because they’re ALWAYS late and they never accept responsibility. I mainly use Canada post and UPS, but will use DHL and a few others in a pinch. But never FedEx. I wish they’d go tits up. More on reddit.com

July 19, 2024 - The original delivery date was December 5. The delivery date was updated every day until yesterday when I got the "customer not available" notification and now today I no longer get any updates on my package.

I'm dealing with a vendor on a FedEx fail to deliver. Vendor send a message saying package was sent. Vendor's website took me to Purolator's tracking site, which of course gave an 'exception' (because it wasn't shipped with Purolator). I figured out it was a FedEx tracking number, FedEx tracking said the package was on the truck for delivery on December 14, but it was never updated as delivered. This was an 'adult signature required' package, and I'd expressed my concerns with the vendor prior to shipping, saying that couriers in my area tend to ignore delivery instructions and just leave packages sitting on doorsteps. No automated call from FedEx, no multiple email notifications from FedEx, no delivery. For a subsequent order from the vendor, FedEx left me a voicemail saying an adult signature was required, sent me two emails stating same, and the tracking status for that order was updated as 'delivered' when the package was delivered on December 20. The vendor advised me that for the prior package, they had opened an inquiry/dispute (this started before the December 20 package was even ordered). And now today I see that FedEx has backdated the tracking status for the undelivered package as having been delivered on December 20 - completely incorrect, and possibly fraudulent update. The item was valued at almost $300, and if this lack of accountability continues I'm going to just dispute it with my cc company.
