ELI5: How do states without an income tax (Texas, Florida, etc) pay for their government?
They have alternate sources of revenue. That can be any number of things. Sales tax, property tax, corporate tax, tariffs... Many of the low-tax states are major oil producers. The taxes they levy on oil production covers their budgets. The oil companies can't exactly go anywhere else, so it's a safe revenue source. More on reddit.com
