unfortunately almost all the shops i used to know around Chicago have closed down, the last decent place i remember was on north ave, near elston, but i forgot the name.

There are some good shops north of you in Milwaukee. Elite Audio and Stereo 1. There are a couple of shops in Kenosha too that do good work.

Hey people! I have a 2016 Chevy Sonic LT and my screen is practically worthless. It doesn’t respond to touch most of the time and it’ll push buttons by itself. I think I’m in the market for a new one and would absolutely love for it to have Apple CarPlay. I’ve never bought an aftermarket stereo before soooo I need recommendations!

I bought my headunit from Crutchfield. To get what you want thru a local dealer, you may have to have them do a special order. When I was looking, a lot of shops didn't have a whole lot of variation in stock. Had some install work done at "Custom Sounds & Tint" in MWC, but that's been a few years back.

Best Buy will install it free if you buy a stereo that is over $200. It's incredibly easy to install it yourself though, especially on these cars. Just one piece of trim to pop off and 4 screws and it will slide right out. Just buy the wiring harness made for your car, match up the wires with the plug that came with the stereo and pop it in.

The radio on my car is broken and it is cheaper to get a new one than get it serviced. I discovered today that Best Buy, who claims to offer free installation of car radios, does not have any installation services available on their website. Where do you all get your car radios installed? I don't want a big fancy system, I just want a radio that works, so those fancy car audio places are probably not what I'm looking for.

"fancy car audio places are probably not what I'm looking for." Actually they are. They are the best bet for you to get onsite installation done pretty quickly. They handle a lot of simple installs in addition to the mega systems. I'd find a place close to where I live and go visit them. They will likely have what you want.

October 6, 2022 - I had to pay for some of the wires/harnesses because I ran out of reward points but you get the idea. If you have points, you can basically get your entire stereo install for free.

Forgive me if not appropriate place to post this, the speakers blew out recently in my 09 Toyota Camry. Was curious if anyone knew of a reliable and affordable local shop nin the city / near loop or north to recommend to take my car to for this. Was going to look into installing myself, but I just don’t have the time. Nothing crazy fancy or subwoofers, just regular decent stereo speakers installed. Thanks!

A-trendz far NW side. They do real quality work at really fair prices. When I worked in automotive all my electronic aftermarket went through them. As a bit of audiophile take my advice, if you're going to do speakers do an amp as well. Nothing big or fancy, in fact many are very small these days. You'll be much happier.

Yes, the membership still includes free standard installation of all car audio equipment bought from Best Buy. This includes car receivers, speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers. It also covers free installation of select car security and navigation systems.
To get free installation, you must purchase the car audio equipment from Best Buy and have it installed by a Geek Squad Autotech. Free installation is not available on do-it-yourself (DIY) installations.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind about free installation with My Best Buy Total Membership:
Free installation is only available on car audio equipment purchased from Best Buy.
Free installation is for standard labor only. Additional charges may apply for vehicle-specific parts and additional manual labor.
