Help picking a Full size hot-swap keyboard - Custom keyboards - KeebTalk
October 18, 2023 - I am currently in the process of choosing my preferred set of key switches (see https://www.keebtalk.com/t/looking-for-advice-to-move-away-from-cherry-mx-blues-to-tactile-switches), and want to find a starter board to go with them. I don’t know whether it would be more cost effective to get a hot-swappable keyboard populated with switches already, or to get some kind of kit instead.
Looking for Hot Swappable Full Size (100%) Keyboard with NO onboard memory! - Custom keyboards - KeebTalk
Hi! New to the forum here, but in need of recommendations. I am looking for a hot swappable 100% layout keyboard (US). The keyboard has to have NO onboard memory (restrictions for my office) and must be wired only, no wireless allowed. I want a high end experience for my office. More on keebtalk.com
Any suggestions for a full-size mechanical keyboard with a hot-swap under $100-150?
There are loads of them out there and it can be overwhelming to find one that suits you. I’ve built a handful of keyboards before, you can check my post history if you want to look at some of them but I’m a big fan of YUNZII as a recommendation for someone looking to get their first custom keyboard. I’m not so sure what they have for full size options as most of the hobby prefers 60%-80% keebs but take a look. Keychrons are fine. Nothing special but they’re not absolutely horrible like Razers and what not and they’ll get there job done. Especially with some tuning. More on reddit.com

But I would only go this route if you know what you like. Otherwise, it might be better to buy a pre-built keyboard that has the features you want and make changes based on your preferences. Just make sure you get a hot swappable keyboard so you can change out the switches with ease. More on pcpartpicker.com

You may want to look at magnetic switches if you play fps mostly. Like Wooting or new Akko HE models. More on reddit.com

The 6 Best Mechanical Keyboards of 2026 | Reviews by Wirecutter
5 days ago - If you want a fun, retro-looking keyboard: The tenkeyless 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard and the full-size 8BitDo Retro 108 have designs reminiscent of old game consoles — and they feel great to type on, too. Like our top picks, these models have smooth stabilizers and comfortable PBT keycaps, and they support hot-swap, so you can change the switches if you don’t love the included clicky Kailh Box White switches.

I swapped the keycaps that had the Cherry profile which I tend to like better. After those 2 changes, the Nimbleback has now become my daily driver. The typing experience is (for me) so much better than before. With your budget, you can build your own custom keyboard from scratch.
