Hey 👋 a few of my domains are due for renewal but GoDaddy is requesting I pay over $150 for each one?! I only paid under $20 each when purchasing.
Is this normal or is it due to their value increasing? Transferring them to a new registrar won’t work would it?

I’m trying to register a few domains but want to avoid paying full price. First-time buyer discounts seem to change all the time and it’s hard to know which ones actually save money without hidden fees.
I mostly need cheap domains for personal projects and a couple for small side businesses. I’ve checked a few promo codes online but some look outdated or only work on certain extensions.
Has anyone recently grabbed a really good deal on godaddy for first-time buyers?
Need go daddy coupon codes for my domain renewal. Currently it costs me 1299 on renewing my domain.
A few years ago there were some good coupons for the Godaddy Discount Domain Club. I'm not seeing anything now that it is time to renew. And with Godaddy domains going up to $20 per year, I do need this. Anyone have some good options? EDIT: I let the domain club subscription expire because I know there are no renewal coupons.
I’m curious if it’s worth paying a yearly fee for cheap prices.
Did anyone try it?

I have a godaddy deluxe hosting account that's up for renewal but the rates are expensive. Does godaddy provide discounts or coupons for renewals? I may just have to do a quick renewal and see if I can transfer the account.
I have a domain with GoDaddy which is due for renewal in 6 days. GoDaddy's renewal price is extortionate and its dns rubbish. I tried to unlock my domain to transfer it to another Registrar but I got the error that it cannot be unlocked and that I have to call their support. I called the support who told me that they will put in a request to unlock the domain but that will take at least 5 working days. I explained that they cannot hold me and my domain hostage like that for that long and that the domain is set to expire/renew within 6 days before which I need it transferred. She then asked me why I want to transfer it away. I explained that I need to transfer it to someone who doesn't charge extortionate prices to renew. To that she said I must wait 5 working days at least. I protested that no other registrar stops the customer from unlocking and transferring domain like they do and make them wait 5 working days. She then told me that domains don't work like that implying that's the industry practice. I hate them from the core of my heart and come to realise never to trust large dinosaur companies that monopolise the market and make lives harder for their customers. There is a special place reserved in hell for companies like that.
I recently had a terrible experience with GoDaddy, and I feel compelled to warn others about their unethical and exploitative practices.
Here's the list what they do (according to what i observed so far) :-
Deceptive Domain Availability: When I searched for a domain, it was initially shown as cheap and available. However, shortly afterward, it was claimed as unavailable, marked as a "premium domain," and priced ridiculously high.
GoDaddy Monopolizes Domains: I noticed that every domain I searched for was suddenly "claimed" by GoDaddy. Visiting these domains leads to their landing page, where they sell the domain at inflated prices or suggest hiring a broker—essentially forcing users to overpay for domains they initially showed as affordable.
WHOIS Confirms Suspicious Practices: When I checked WHOIS information for one of the domains, here’s what I found:
4. It’s clear that GoDaddy is holding these domains through their proxy service, making them unavailable to regular users unless they pay a premium
5. Unfair Market Manipulation: GoDaddy is deliberately creating scarcity by claiming domains people search for and reselling them at inflated prices. This is not just unethical; it’s exploitative and undermines trust in domain registration services.
💡 What You Can Do:
Avoid GoDaddy at all costs! Use alternative domain registrars like Namecheap, Hostinger, Cloudflare or Porkbun.
Be cautious when searching for domains, as GoDaddy seems to track interest and manipulate availability to force you to pay more.
⚠️ Conclusion:
GoDaddy’s practices are a blatant scam, designed to exploit users searching for domains. They manipulate the market to extort money and provide no transparency in the process. Stay away from GoDaddy and use trustworthy alternatives instead!
this happen for all the domain i checked specially (.com) all the one also don't say .com are popular in demand then why it available and now its register then why now and why after i checked and why all and why all the domain are directing to godaddy not once to their registered owners website
here the live proof:
in hostinger it says in godaddy it says this image is specifically a domain that i wanted its not said premium but it register after i lookup and add to cart in a one day no owner but godaddy only (it's been like this for 3-4 months)of course:) i know u say what premium in godaddy visit page look like
see they are telling to buy at high price it's okay this premium one i don't want but why do they claim anonymously the domain after i looked or searched on their website in one day even after 3 months the domain does not have a website only godaddy promotion this is for all domains i looked into
I bought a domain from GoDaddy last year for like 200 rupees for one year. Now it's time for renewal and they're asking for 6k rupees for renewal! Is this fair? (My site doesn't even have any traffic). Are there any alternatives to GoDaddy where I can get reasonable prices?
I read a thread on a forum the other day about a .99 Godaddy domain coupon code and everyone in the forum seemed to get excited about it. Unfortunately, that code had a limit on how many registrations (10,000) it would allow.
Since I go on a domain buying binge every couple months spending .99 - $1.99 for up to 10 Godaddy domains. I figured I'd share what I do and how I do it, so everyone else (who wants a domain, or 10) can get what they need without paying full price.
Here Are 5 Steps I Use
Step #1. Do a Google search for "godaddy promo code" or "godaddy coupon code"
I like to search for codes first and get the domain second.
A Godaddy promo code can have between 4 and 8 characters. An example might be "CJCRMNR5"
You'll find sites like RetailmeNot, FatWallet, Coupons - all those sites have Godaddy .99 cent domain coupon codes.
Tip: Go to each site one-by-one and copy the codes into a text document
Sometimes the promo site will redirect you to Godaddy, but I like to work in my own tab so I close the redirect. This way if one coupon code doesn't work I can easily enter a different one.
Step #2. Search Godaddy for a domain
Self explanatory. One thing I will add - I like to search using a tool called Bustaname.com. It allows me to add several seed words and customize the type of word combos that are still available to register.
Step #3. Checkout & Pay For Your Domain
When you've decided which domain you're going to buy and reach Godaddy checkout it will ask for a Promotional Code in the right hand corner. Take one code from any of the coupon sites I mentioned above and enter it and checkout.
Remember the code. You won't use it again, but you'll need it as a reference for the other 9 domain purchases.
Tip: Checkout with one domain at a time. Buy one, check out, then come back repeat the process (with one domain) and checkout again.
Warning: Paypal doesn't work for Godaddy coupon code domains. You need a credit card for all of this to work.
Step #4. Search Deeper into Google For More Domain Codes and Repeat The Process
You can easily purchase 3 different domains using a different Godaddy coupon each time.
Domain #1 for .99 Domain #2 for $1.49 Domain #3 for $1.99
This is where Godaddy tries to put the brakes on your discounts. They don’t want you to have another .99 domain. But we’re greedy, right? The title of this article said 10 domains, so we still need 7 more.
We need to get more codes…
Here are some extra search terms:
godaddy domain discount godaddy promo codes godaddy coupon godaddy coupon codes godaddy domain godaddy domain coupon
One by one, take each promo code you found and enter it in at checkout.
Hint: Not all the codes will work. Some codes will only reduce your domain price to $10 if you've already gotten a discount.
But several discount codes will work.
Once you get one to work, checkout and repeat the process.
Step #5. Look for Patterns in the Promo Codes (And Choose Different Patterns)
Many codes have the same first 3 letters - "CJC" for example. In my experience you can "usually" purchase one domain per "code type" per price, even if the code is from a different website. So if you've already used a coupon code with "CJC" for a .99 cent domain and you're trying for another .99 domain, skip that code and select a different code format.
The more discount code prefixes you find the more successful you will be.
Once you’ve used up all the .99 cent discount codes, start using 1.49, and then 1.99 ($2 is still a great price for a new domain!)
Do the same thing over and over until you’ve gotten 10 deeply discounted Godaddy domains.
Cool, right?
I have some screenshots on my blog if you're interested here
Conclusion:
Never pay full price for a Godaddy domain again.
Spaceship or namecheap Namecheap it offers me the name for 6 dollars due to the coupon but the renewal is quite higher than spaceship Spaceship offers the first year for 9 dollars the renewal for 10, put in consideration the renewal of namecheap is 14 dollars
It says that 2 years is required (and that second year is $21.99 of course), but I'm able to change it to only 1 year via the dropdown, and the shopping cart total is $2.99. Seems like a good deal. Thoughts? Am I locked into GoDaddy in some way that I'm not thinking of? I assume I'd be able to transfer the domain out...
Hi all, I’m a small business owner and paid an “expert” who recommended I use GoDaddy for domain names and hosting, but now my renewal fee has gone up from $100 to $1400. As a small business I can’t afford this renewal. Any advice on what to do?
I have a bunch of domains to renew. What is the pricing for renewal with Discount Domain Club?
Is it easy to cancel discount domain club if I do not like it? I am aware I will have to pay the full price for at least one year.
