What Is Google My Business & Why Do I Need It?
April 3, 2025 - Creating a Business Profile is the same thing as adding a place to Google Maps—which is something that anyone (including a random stranger or an automated listing generator) can do. All that Google requires is the business name, location, and category. Once Google confirms it is not a duplicate, they will create the Business Profile for that location.
Holy crap. Google my business is an absolute disaster.
If you Google your exact business name and it isn't showing up, there can be a few factors at play. You can DM me the listing if you want. But generally its because of the keywords in the name that other businesses are ranking for. Let's say your name is "Trusted AC Repairs". Well Google will then output AC companies besides yours that are ranking for those keywords. I'm not saying this will be the case with your profile, but it might be. With the phone number, make sure you have the new phone number on your website. Then ask someone you know who uses Google Maps a lot to find your listing, suggest an edit, and input the new phone number there. That could push the edit through. If you need any help, send me a message. Edit: I didn't know I would get so many messages in my inbox. I'm getting through them as quickly as I can. I have no problem helping. More on reddit.com

Google Business Profile Help?
I deal with this all the time. There's a lot of "pre" work you can do before applying to get approved faster or instantly. Now that you're suspended it's a pain in the ass to fix but it's possible. (With ALL of the following match your NAP perfectly. Name, address, phone number) Sign up for every free 'reputable' business listing platform- yellow pages, yelp etc., make sure you have a FB page set up with the NAP, Next-door business page same thing, connect your website to google analytics and console- use chat gpt to teach you if you don't know how. IMPORTANT- LET THIS COOK FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AT LEAST. It will give the Google Crawlers and indexers evidence of your company and it's legitimacy. IF the GBP is not visible to the public, use a good local guide account that isn't the business email to add a missing place at the address on GBP. USING A PIN AND NOT A SERVICE AREA IS BETTER BY 1000X FOR ORGANIC TRAFFIC. Once the place has been 'created' get a few reviews on it. Then the account you used to set up the google analytics and console, claim the business. IF the profile is visible just not 'active' just do the listings and NAP stuff and connect to analytics and console and wait. Then appeal. More on reddit.com
Have you used "Google My Business" to try to further your customer base? How did it go?
Pretty sure you can hide your physical address and just put town and zip. Would want to check in on that. But having a GMB especially in the handy man business is extremely important - along with a website - even if it's just basic, but well put together. Request some reviews from past clients to make you rank higher and make you more trustworthy. Finding a trustworthy and skilled handyman is hard - and many people see it as a risk given stories they've heard in the past. If you have a good looking website with some work photos, good reviews, etc. it will make you stand out. More on reddit.com
