Are there any alternatives that accomplish the same thing (adaptive LED backlighting), but use the HDMI signal instead of using the camera?

Edit: I realized since I have a smart TV and it won't always have HDMI signal in, I need a camera looking at the screen regardless. I'm going to buy a Govee T2 and bottom-mount it so it's less intrusive, and see how I like it. Alternatively I found a device called Ambivision but it's rather expensive coming from the UK

Hello everyone! I got an old led strips on the back of my tv since a couple of years already (just blue). And I have to plug and unplug it every time.

I recently bought a Govee corner floor lamp on special and actually love it. While I was checking wich one to choose, I seen the Govee tv backlight with the camera and was curious about it..

Now I would like to try it, but I’m confuse with the choices.. I understand there’s the T1, T2 and TV3 lite…

Can someone help me? Any explications/hints on what I should go for?

I got a 75 inch Sony and using Alexa.

If I understand, I can combine my corner lamp with the tv backlight?

What does means “fish eye correction”?

And I don’t use a sync box… well, what is a sync box actually?? 😅 Like a AppleTV ? Fire tv cube from Amazon?

I've been wanting one of these since over a decade ago when I started seeing them pop up online. They were a lot more expensive back then, and idk what companies actually made and sold them back then. Anyways, I got this T3 Lite backlight kit with the light bars for Christmas. The instructions said to put the light bars on the left and right side of the TV, however, my TV is mounted up too high to do this. The light bars come with stands, and I couldn't find anything online about wall mounting them. However, there are slots in the back so you can put them on a screw and slide them down to somewhat lock them in place, so I put a couple screws in the wall and slapped them up there.

Now a couple questions.

First, has anyone else wall mounted these? What did you do to make the wires not look so bad going from the bars to the TV?

Second, the instructions said for best results, place the light bars 20 inches/50 centimeters away from the sides of the TV. As you can see I have the right bar mounted all the way to the corner of the wall, which is only 12 inches. If my TV is even slightly tilted to one side , it picks up the light from that bar and keeps the backlight on on the top corner, even if the screen is all black. Is there anything I can do in the settings to mitigate this? I like to keep my TV slightly turned for best viewing with my setup.

It'd actually be really cool if I could use the light bars separate and put them on the sides of my computer monitors, but you'd have to have another controller and power supply. I wouldn't even care about getting a camera and using them as backlighting. I would just use them for ambience in the computer room.

I'm in the middle of decision, whether or not to buy the Govee T3 Lite. I already have some light strips back on my TV, but they're static and I only change the color for some vibe (and I have some color loop when music is playing).
Of course I really like the color-matching-screen feature.

The question is - will the Govee T3 Lite work without the internet connection?
I read somewhere that it needs to be connected over Wi-Fi (and it will be), but I really don't like the idea of having a camera on some device, that is connected to the internet (so I'd like to disable internet connection for this device on my router).

My ideal setup would be to control all modes of these lights locally over Home Assistant, based on the current use of TV (Playstation, Movies, Spotify). I know there are some limits with the API (and some things are not implemented yet). Anyway I really don't want this device to be connected to the internet.

I've just ordered a nice new 75" TV that I'm planning to wall mount. I would have liked an Ambilight one but my budget didn't stretch that far, so I was thinking of adding the Dreamview T1. I'm just wondering how intrusive the camera is though. I don't think I'll have anywhere else to put it apart from at the top of the screen. As nice as the backlights are, if they rely on a camera that is going to get in the way of the TV content then it doesn't seem worth it. So for those of you who have added the camera at the top of the screen, have you lost access to the TV content at all? What else should I be aware of re installing the camera in the top / middle?
