Hall effect switches usually sound more hollow and feel much lighter than regular switches. With the right mods you can still make them sound good. As for the key feel, they are very smooth but probably not the same kind of smoothness of a lubed linear switch. Because they are usually paired with lighter springs the best way i could describe them is they feel frictionless, whereas traditional lubed switches feel “buttery or creamy”. They are both pretty good and pretty subjective to your personal preference. Answer from lttokay on reddit.com

What's the hype with Hall Effect and is it worth it?

wooting two he hall effect and apex pro keyboard = spongy
spongy feeling = basically the bottom out feels like you pressing into a sponge. its not a crisp feeling. The activation of 0.1 etc am sure is accurate but after that the feeling on the apex is just not great compared to say cherry blue swithes. I have not had a wooting keyboard but the fact that the new model is using the hall effect one can only assume that its going to feel spongy. just my opinion mind not based on fact at all. Any good Hall Effect keyboards for comp gaming? (~200€ budget)
There’s a bunch of options out there, but most of their software is honestly terrible. Wooting’s still kinda the gold standard, but if you’re tryna skip it, keychron’s decent. Lemokey’s basically the same company with a few tweaks, though their ks37 switches and overall HE setup feel a bit meh. Epomaker’s got one that’s not bad either- shine through pbt caps and some nice A-rgb if you’re into that. Just keep in mind you’ll need to mess around with the software for actuation points or stuff like rapid trigger/dks. More on reddit.com

Hall Effect Keyboard Switches – UniKeys
Magnetic Hall effect switch, or HE switch, detects the presence of a magnetic field and responds by switching its output state. It operates based on the Hall effect leading to a faster and more acurate actuation.

r/keyboards on Reddit: What's the hype with Hall Effect and is it worth it?
February 12, 2025 -

Hi all

I've been posting for a bit now, and I see a lot of the brands making Hall Effect keyboards. I get the gaming benefits with rapid trigger and setting actuation points. But besides gaming, why would someone use it for, let's say, filling in Excels, design work, content creation, etc? Would a regular mechanical be worth more?

How is the type, sound and feel of the HE boards in general? I'm used to typing on my old Ducky Shine 3 :D

Cheers!

Currys keyboard is 'ideal for high-stakes competitive gaming' - Cornwall Live
1 week ago - If you're a gamer, you will know that having a decent keyboard is a must, and it's also great if it works for every day use too. I was offered to try the QPAD Flux 65 Model 5 8K Magnetic Hall-Effect Gaming Keyboard, which is said to take mechanical keyboards to the next level via magnetic Hall-Effect switches (rated to 8,000 Hz), offering near-instant response, zero switch bounce and extreme durability.

Additionally, a chosen effect can be lightened, darkened, sped up or slowed down to suit the user. The keyboard is offered with options for the tactile feel of its keys, and I can’t claim to fully understand the distinction between them other than what’s stated literally, however, I ordered the Matcha Green edition with the “Tactile Beige Switch.” In practice, that option provides a smooth feel to the keys, requires light pressure, while returning a crisp, audible “clack” when a key hits bottom.
