Can you leave the giant animatronics from Home depot or Lowes outside for a long time?
The Home Depot ones are usually made to be left outside, at least for a month. You just need to make sure it doesn’t say outside in a covered area (like an outdoor patio) on the box. Almost all of Spirit Halloweens stuff is not meant to go outside, which I’ve always thought is kind of silly. What I usually do is cover the electronics with a garbage bag underneath the clothing and tape stuff up. The biggest thing you have to worry about with the giant HD animatronics (or from anywhere else) is making sure they don’t fall over. I use trampoline stakes bought off of Amazon, but I see HD sells them now with the Halloween stuff. Besides keeping everything in place during a wind storm, they also double as theft deterrents. I usually use 8 on the big stuff and 4 on the small stuff. You could probably get away with using less though. More on reddit.com

Just be aware you're limiting the life of them by a few years. I use large contractor bags over mine including some fairly large pain in the ass ones. I've had a few the past few years, but mine are 100% outside from mid September to the week after Halloween. I love them but I really hate that they're not even remotely waterproof. Hundreds of dollars and in reality they're really just Chinese junk. Some will put bags over the motor/sensor boxes. More on reddit.com

hello all, I'm planning on getting my first animatronic from home depot. The giant grim reaper, I know ot says that I cna be outdoor. but is it actually safe or a good idea to leave the animatronic outside for an entire month? are they durable? What do you guys recommend ?

I have done so, but you should put a clear coat on them to avoid fading. The skeleton is fine, by my inferno skelly is very faded now.

I was looking through the Witches from Haunted Hill Farms, was thinking about doing a spooky cemetery with a group of witches doing witch things. Then I noticed that they were only recommended for indoors or outside if they're covered. Unfortunately, we're not lucky enough to have a covered yard.🙄 Has anyone left them outside before? Did they fall apart instantly?

Frankly all animatronics you see in box stores of any kind are fairly cheap parts wise, they will break sooner than later, it’s inevitable. Every season I doctor up what I have and do my best. I have a reaper I got at Home Depot that didn’t even make it 3 weeks after purchase before it stopped lighting up. It didn’t even make it to Halloween. I took all precaution to weather proof it the best I could, the thing still broke. So sometimes it’s just a crapshoot. All these things are not made by the highest bidder, so you just take a chance. Worse case it breaks and you just put some cool lights on it and call it a day.
