Found my mobile endgame (HiBy R3 Pro Saber)
Recently Added playlist in R3 Pro Saber 1.7?
Have you noticed any other issues with this player other than this one? I am contemplating this player bc everything else is sold out and I need a new DAP. But this player seems to get two complaints:
-
it’s very bright and shrill sounding
-
features on it don’t work well and it’s buggy. Example, a lot of Bluetooth issues
Hiby R3 Pro Saber vs Hidiz AP80 Pro-X?
Have the Hiby R3 Pro Saber here. Good little device, but software quirks plague it for me. I have had it wipe settings on me a total of six times due to improperly shutting down. When this happens, all configuration is completely removed, from paired Bluetooth devices to EQ curves to even the theme. There is no real indication that this happens, with no error presenting itself or anything. You simply reboot and everything is back to stock. There seems to still be a persistent issue with LDAC receiving on my device. If it sits idle for longer than about 5 seconds, the device hard locks, forcing me to power cycle it. This happens across all of my devices. I am also not a fan of the Qobuz integration, as browsing music can be slow and cumbersome. As a purely offline DAP, with no wireless connectivity, it's fine. Can drive headphones well, especially with the 2.5mm balanced, and sounds like a Saber device should.
Cannot comment on the Hidiz device, but it does use the same OS as the Hiby. Expect similarities.

So turns out the final piece in my mobile endgame wasnt an headphone but a DAP
Ive been using goblu ifi for years now because I got a good deal on it and I can use any wired headphone/iem and pair it via Bluetooth.
But even with tidal/Apple Music lossless there was something missing/lacking… especially compared to the sound quality on my LP collection/listening to it through my PC
I randomly came across someone using HiBy R3 Pro Saber and got intrigued by how it can directly play from Tidal (although you have to be connected to the internet)
It’s really amazing, like I feel like it’s breathing new life into my momentum 3s and iems. Even the same flac files off my pc sounds better when transferred onto these. I tried pairing these to my iphone’s hotspot while on the subway and it played Tidal no problem. I have a long distance flight coming up and I’m actually looking forward to it so I can go through all the tracks I have without a distraction.
Seriously, if you’re looking for mobile endgames , this is your sign to invest in a MP3/something that can stream from Tidal/Quboz directly. The difference is massive and Bluetooth kills so much of the fidelity
