r/candy on Reddit: I know it's not Easter but do you remember these "bunny basket" or hiding eggs? They are very sweet. But I like them.
October 30, 2023 - More recently, "bunny basket" or "hiding" eggs. Seems like years ago might've been some variation on "marshmallow eggs." ... I definitely ate these through the 80s too. Not good. But I didn't turn down candy as a kid. Kinda like an alcoholic drinking mouthwash.

r/Mommit on Reddit: Do you hide filled plastic Easter eggs or the hard boiled ones?
July 4, 2023 -
My partner and I are starting new family traditions for holidays. Growing up, I always hunted for plastic Easter eggs with candy or coins inside. They just appeared in the morning.
My partner on the other hand had to find the hard boiled Easter eggs the “bunny” put out. Apparently they would put the eggs out the night before and the Easter bunny would hide them.
Wondering what some of your experiences have been growing up.
No offense to anyone who had a similar experience to my partner - but I did tell my partner that was strange that they hunted for hard boiled eggs 😂- my partner never had an Easter egg hunt with plastic ones! But to each their own!

Okay both of those are familiar. We always hunt for plastic with candy/money, and we dye hard boiled eggs to eat. BUT my husbands family is Mexican and they hunt for confetti eggs! I’ve never seen that. All year they carefully crack eggs from the top to save the shell. They rinse it, and save them. Then close to Easter they dye the empty shell, decorate/draw on it, fill with confetti (sometime baby powder!) and glue tissue paper to close. They make 1000’s. Literally every egg that 15 eat in a year. They thought it was crazy that I wanted to hide CANDY

We always searched for the hard boiled eggs we'd dyed beforehand. It was always indoors since we lived in Alaska and spring in Alaska is still snowy and cold. Thankfully, we never had any unfound spoiled egg issues. I didn't even know families hid plastic eggs until this year! I thought that was more for community/school events. My husband of 5 years accepted my tradition without question, and his parents just told me about the plastic egg thing. Honestly, I have no desire to fill eggs with trinkets and hide them. I think the hunt is the fun part anyway. 🤷🏻♀️
