Looking to do cabinets, countertops, and appliances in my kitchen (basically a remodel) and am being quoted $19-23k by Home Depot estimator. Never having gone through them, any idea how close these estimates usually are? Most stuff is low to mid end.

Home Depot has a process that allows a contractor to be an “approved” service provider: https://www.homedepot.com/services/c/partnership-overview/1dcd27833 It is not hard to get on the list. My experience is that just about any company (no matter how big or small) can get approved No Home Depot employee will inspect the remodel, and unfortunately disputes are not uncommon. And HD is not known for mediating these cases: https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/can-i-sue-home-depot-for-an-unfinished-repair-to-a-2968227.html I personally have had great experiences with my local approved providers. They were knowledgable, on time, and within budget. Can’t tell you if I am the exception or the rule. Post to subreddits local to your area to see what experiences your neighbors have had.

Why not just buy the cabinets there and use a contractor of your own choosing? That’s what I did. Their kitchen design service imo and experience is great. Good quality, many choices, and prices are great as they often run promos. Also, upside to purchasing a counter top there: you don’t have to buy the full slab but only pay for the sq ft you need. They also install the counter once the cabinets are in, it’s incl in the price. So work with your own installer / handyman/contractor who might come recommend by a friend or family member and have him install the cabinets bought at HD.

Hi, I’d love to hear from anyone who has used the kitchen remodeling services from Home Depot. My husband and I had an appointment this morning with a member of their team and the process seemed super straight forward and easy. She brought samples of a ton of different tiles, cabinets, etc. and we selected everything that we liked. What we’re planning on having done is replacing our cabinet doors, getting a new backsplash, and new counter tops.

My dad has worked in construction for a very long time and is trying to convince me to look elsewhere. His reasoning is that Home Depot just finds contractors and charges more money since they work as the middle man. The woman who came to our house today though told us that all of their contractors work for Home Depot and are not outsourced from a different company. I’m torn because I like the simplicity of making all of my selections and having one team be able to do everything. We had a prior estimate from someone who can do our countertops, however he does not work on cabinets and we’d have to find someone else to do that as a separate project.

If you’ve used Home Depot’s home services, I’d love to hear about your experience. I’d like to get the ball rolling on my kitchen and get it done as soon as possible, however I don’t want to just jump into something that I may later regret. Thanks in advance!
