Hey gang,
I have a paring, boning and 8” chef knife by Shun Ken Onion. I don’t use them much anymore and sometimes check to see their “value” online. There are sellers asking for like $500+ for the chef alone, and I often wonder if people actually pay that level for Shun level knives. They’re cool and nice, but nowhere near $500 (my opinion anyway). And yeah, they’re not made anymore so there is that. But like, do I have a $1,000 set of knives just sitting in my kitchen? If so, I smell some new knives…and are there good channels to sell?

Some people think they're super comfy, others are collectors of knives. You can get better performance for the price easily but you can't really get the same handle and profile combo easily. In this regard, prices are dependent on what someone is willing to pay. You may be able to sell somewhere like eBay or marketplace for high prices though or kitchen knife forums

December 20, 2021 - this is so funny. i’m looking through these threads cause i lost mine somewhere in the house i’m pretty sure and i’m bummed about it. but i want another similar knife in case the leek turns up again Continue this thread ... Ive been using a buck 112 ranger and its been great. Edge retention and build quality is there. ... Seconded. Leek is a terrific option for US made, budget knives, but Buck has quite a few options as well.
