It has much better theming, especially in the queue as you stroll by Hagrid’s Hut (pictured above). Universal has added three more Flight of the Hippogriff coasters at other parks, but they aren’t clones.
Is Universal all thrill rides and rollercoasters?
Hagrid’s and Mummy are both roller coasters, but I wouldn’t say they’re much worse than Disney coasters. Ripsaw Falls and Jurassic Park River Adventure are basically Splash Mountain with bigger drops (75ft and 85ft respectively, compared to Splash’s 50ft). Dr. Doom is comparable to Tower of Terror without the dark ride portion. There isn’t really a good WDW comparison for Forbidden Journey. All the other rides are pretty tame More on reddit.com

They have other rides at both areas plus shows, shops, etc. The other rides include 3D motion rides, like Spiderman and Transformers, but also rides like Men In Black Alien Attack which you are riding in a car through the ride shooting aliens. It does spin at times but is good for those who aren't into coasters. More on reddit.com

June 2, 2025How do you rank the 8 roller coasters at Universal Orlando?
Pteranodon flyers you can only get on with short short little kids so I haven’t been on it, but we’ll just say 8 7. Flight of hippogriff, kiddie coaster 6. Gringotts, not really a coaster 5. Mummy, fun coaster, decent launch and backwards section 4. RRR, it is rough but I have it over mummy due to the lift hill 3. Hulk, great, thrilling, intense coaster even though it’s a bit rough 2. Hagrids, 7 launches, surprisingly intense family coaster, I didn’t know about the backwards section or drop track which were two good surprises Velocicoaster, easily the top coaster. Zero g stall over the path is awesome to watch, mosasaurus roll over the lake is the best element and insane, the second launch is amazing and you get such good air time over the tophat towards the back. My Fiance and I have booked a trip to Universal next month and we are looking forward to it. However when we researched the app, it seems that most of the rides are classified as thrill rides. Can you advise on how much of a thrill these rides are? We enjoy WDW and are able for all of the rides there. How do most of the rides at Universal compare to the ones at WDW? I know the three main coasters (Rip Ride Rocket, Velocicoaster and Hulk) are all obviously more thrilling but how do the rest of the rides compare? Are there many rides outside of thrill rides? I'm just worried when we get there we won't be able for a lot of the rides if they are all big thrill rides and would appreciate advice on this. Thanks.

I’m just about to leave after two weeks touring the Universal parks with a thrill ride phobic 15 year old and he’s had a great time. Was able to do all of the following: Islands of Adventure: Spider-Man, Dr Doom, the 2 water rides, forbidden journey, Jurassic River Adventure, the dr Seuss area. Hagrids is a medium thrill ride and the best ride in the park. He loved it so much he’s asked to do it tomorrow on our last day here. Universal Studios: Minions, the Mummy, Transformers, the Simpsons, Fast and the Furious, Men in Black, the shows e.g Blues Brothers etc are all worth watching. You’ll have a great time 👍🏼
