If you use security questions with your Apple ID, or if you don't have access to a trusted device or phone number, go to iforgot.apple.com. Then you can unlock your account with your existing password or reset your password.

Go to your Apple ID account page and enter your Apple ID and password. On the Verify Your Identity screen, select "Can’t access your trusted devices?" In the pop-up window, enter your Recovery Key. Go to the Security section and click Edit. Remove the device you no longer wish to use to verify your identity. If you have additional devices with Find My iPhone enabled, you can verify them as trusted devices. You can also add additional trusted phone numbers.

Apple ID is now Apple Account. You can still sign in with the same email address or phone number and password. Go to Settings. Tap your name > Sign-In & Security > Change Password.

Tap Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security. Tap Change Password. Enter your current password or device passcode, then enter a new password and confirm the new password. Tap Change. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click [your name]. Click Sign-In & Security.

September 18, 2025 - This is necessary even if you have lost control of the phone number associated with your Apple ID. Click Continue. Wait for the message instructing you on what to do to recover your Apple ID. Since you can’t use the number anymore, click Cannot Use This Number. You will then see several options to help you out. You can update your trusted phone number through account recovery. Go to appleid.apple.com > Sign in with your Apple ID > Select “Didn’t get a verification code?”, then select More Options > You'll be redirected to iforgot.apple.com > Complete your account recovery request.

February 18, 2022 - Using Apple Support app is one of the easiest ways to change Apple ID password without a phone number. On any Apple device, open the Apple Support app > Reset Password, select “A different Apple ID” and choose Continue.
